Two people are found dead and one escapes after house fire breaks out at a property in North Yorkshire

Police are appealing for more information on the cause of a house fire which left two people dead and one injured.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended with assistance from Humberside Fire and Rescue and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. were called to a house fire in Camblesforth, near Selby, North Yorkshire shortly after 5am on Sunday morning.

The fire was brought under control shortly before 7.30am and crews are still in attendance damping down and ensuring scene safety.

Specialist teams from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended the incident to help with stabilisation of the property to help the investigation afterwards. 

This evening, North Yorkshire Police force said that despite the efforts of firefighters and a local man to save their lives, two people sadly died at the scene.

One man managed to escape the property and is currently receiving medical treatment.

No neighbouring properties were damaged.

North Yorkshire police are asking people to come forward with any information that could help with the inquiry, as part of the joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
