Twitter is down AGAIN: App crashes for the second time in a WEEK as thousands of frustrated users complain about not being able to see photos or post links

For the second time in the space of a week, Twitter is experiencing technical trouble. 

According to DownDetector, the issues started at around 16:30 GMT on Monday and are affecting more than 4,000 users worldwide. 

Frustrated users are complaining of having problems being able to see photos or post links on the platform, but the reason for the issue remains unclear.

According to DownDetector, the issues started at around 16:30 GMT on Monday and are affecting more than 4,000 users worldwide

DownDetector collates reports of outages from multiple sources, including social media and mobile apps. 

This afternoon, just over 4,000 reports were logged, with 80 per cent of people reporting issues with the website, 13 per cent with the app and 7 per cent with the server connection.

According to NetBlocks, Twitter is experiencing international slowdowns and outages that are affecting image and video content. 

Those who are able to access the platform on mobile and desktop are seeing blank images where photos should be.

MailOnline tried to post a photo on Twitter and was only able to see a blank brown square in the post. 

There were also problems posting functioning links to websites. 

One Twitter user posted a photo with the comment: ‘Is Twitter down bro? This is literally all I’m seeing … sh*t won’t even load pictures or videos, Elon stop ruining the app.

Another said: ‘imma just use the opportunity to post my nudes.’

MailOnline has contacted Twitter for comment, although there haven’t been any replies from the firm’s communications department since Musk laid off its staff last autumn. 

On March 1, Twitter experienced a three-hour outage just days after Elon Musk laid off another 200 employees. 

The outages have been increasing ever since Musk began running Twitter, leading to speculation that there aren’t enough people to fix its problems.

In February alone, the site experienced at least four widespread outages, compared with nine in all of 2022, according to NetBlocks. 

Musk’s newest round of layoffs brought Twitter’s workforce down to under 2,000 — a sharp fall from the 7,500 employed when the billionaire first took over in October.

On Sunday, Musk tweeted: ‘Hope you have a good Sunday. First day of the rest of your life.’

February 8: Twitter expands the character limit to 4,000 for Twitter Blue subscribers in the US. Shortly after, the site encounters technical difficulties.
