Tucker Carlson hits back at liberal TV reporters who blamed HIM for Colorado shooting

Tucker Carlson has used his eponymous Fox News show to slam a group of liberal TV reporters whom he claims have been using their reports to ‘blame right-wing media outlets’ for ‘radicalizing’ the Colorado Springs gay bar shooter.

‘This is a man who was radicalized by this show and by the Twitter account Libs of TikTok to hate transgendered people and that’s why this man walked into a bar, a gay bar, with a gun, and started murdering people,’ Carlson said, tongue firmly in cheek during Wednesday night’s monologue.

He was able to gently mock because earlier in the day a requested emerged from the lawyers of 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich to be referred to using they/them pronouns, because they are said to be non-binary.

CNN delivered the news to stunned silence before proceeding to report on the shootings and Aldrich’s alleged involvement using male pronouns.

Tucker Carlson used his monologue in his show to call out liberal TV reporters by name who had accused him and Fox News of stirring up anti LGBTQ sentiment

Carlson then illustrated how left-leaning media had been blaming the right for the tragedy that had occurred.

‘It’s a campaign being driven by members of Congress and conservative influencers on social media, as well as the right’s most favorite TV network, Fox News,’ said MSNBC political reporter Nicolle Wallace. ‘You have anti-LGBTQ rhetoric spewed on the most watch hours on Fox News at a regular clip against the U.S. military, against gay men and women,’ she continued.

It was a view echoed by MSNBC evening anchor Chris Hayes: ‘These incidents happened within the context of conservative media personalities fear-mongering against queer folks,’ he suggested.

Carlson suggested that NBC News was leading the charge against right-wing media with NBC reporter Ben Collins reporting how fear-mongering was spreading to the LGBTQ community evening including drag nights.

Club Q, where five people were killed in a shooting over the weekend, had been scheduled to host a drag brunch on Sunday, marking Transgender Day of Remembrance, which commemorates transgender people who lost their lives to anti-transgender violence.

‘Am I doing something wrong here? Here are some headlines that I wrote over the last six months. “Fueled by internet’s far right machine, anti-LGBTQ threats shut down trans rights and drag events.” Remember, there was a drag event happening in Colorado,’ Collins explained.

‘What do we do about public officials at local level, state level, federal level, who try to inject the fear of the very word “transgender” into school issues?’ asked Mike Barnicle during NBC’s Meet The Press on Sunday.

After replaying the reportage, Carlson was ready to take aim at those who had suggested that any of Fox’s reporting might be to blame, now knowing the gunman had identified as non-binary.

‘Do you remember [when you were told] Anderson Lee Aldrich, was inspired by hatred for the non-binary community that he learned on this show? Do you remember that? Well, actually, it turns out we discovered last night, that Anderson Lee Aldrich is – drum roll, please – part of the non-binary community.

CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota was stunned after she learned that the Colorado Springs gay club shooting suspect is non-binary and wants to use they/them pronouns

CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota was stunned after she learned that the Colorado Springs gay club shooting suspect is non-binary and wants to use they/them pronouns

‘First, get your chuckling under control and ponder what this means. What it means is that virtually everything that NBC News has told you about this shooting in Colorado is not only wrong, it is the opposite of the truth,’ Carlson continued.

‘It is all a grotesque and filthy lie. It wasn’t news reporting. It turns out to have been the most transparent sort of political propaganda. And for once they have been busted flat out in public trying to sell political propaganda to an unsuspecting public under the guise of news. It’s not the first time they’ve done it. They won’t stop doing it, but they did it a lot in this case.’

The Colorado shooter’s motive is unknown, but the primary suspect Anderson Lee Aldrich is facing five counts of first-degree murder and five counts of bias-motivated crime-causing bodily injury, more commonly known as hate crimes.

The LGBTQ community has faced a wave of threats and violence. In recently published research from the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University San Bernardino, researchers found that reports of hate crimes against LGBTQ people in major cities increased by 51% in 2021.

Carlson admitted that he was ‘surprised to learn that the anti-trans shooter is himself trans’, but suggested liberal media including NBC News now need to apologize for rushing to judgement and in effect saying rhetoric aired on Fox News was to blame.

‘Yesterday they were accusing us of getting five people murdered. Now that the story they were telling has turned out to be a lie, the opposite of what they said it was, they’re pretending that nothing has changed at all. They are liars, cold-blooded liars. It’s amazing to watch.’
