Top Putin ally claims Joe Biden, 80, has ‘progressive dementia’ and could start WW3 ‘due to distraction’ in latest online rant

  • Medvedev is Vladimir Putin’s deputy on the Kremlin’s powerful security council
  • The Russian has become known for his sprawling rants on Telegram channel

The Kremlin has mocked Joe Biden‘s expected bid for a second term as president, claiming he ‘may start a third world war due to distraction’.

Close Vladimir Putin ally Dmitry Medvedev posted on Telegram: ‘Of course, progressive dementia is not a hindrance to being re-elected President of the United States.’

Medvedev, 57, is the former Russian president and prime minister, and is now 70-year-old Putin’s deputy on the Kremlin’s powerful security council.

The former Russian premier has become known for his sprawling rants on his Telegram channel, having previously threatened nuclear war through the messaging app.

This is also not the first time the Russian has hit out at the U.S. President. Medvedev previously branded Biden as a ‘strange grandfather with dementia’.

‘Old Biden seems to be going for a second term,’ Medvedev said on Telegram.

‘What was noted on the first:

‘1. Confuses names, dates and gets lost in his own office.

‘2. Keeps secret documents in the garage of his personal home

‘3. Spent more than $100 billion on a collapsing country [Ukraine] unknown to ordinary Americans, but…

‘4. Dumps all the economic problems of the United States on the machinations of Russia

‘5. May start a Third World War due to distraction.’

Medvedev, 57, was president from 2008 until 2012, when Putin was restricted from standing for election by the Russian constitution. He subsequently vacated the position for his predecessor to return after new laws were implemented.

The former president could return to the role if Putin is forced out by the war in Ukraine or ill health.

Medvedev has been tasked by Putin with boosting the supply of missiles and tanks for the frontline.

At a tank plant in Omsk on Thursday, he hit back at Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s demands for weapons from the West.

‘[In London] our enemy begged for planes, missiles and tanks while abroad,’ said Medvedev.

‘What must we do in response? Naturally, to increase production of various types of ammunition and military equipment, including modern tanks.

‘We are speaking about the manufacturing and modernising of thousands of tanks.’

This is not the first time Medvedev has hit out at Biden, trying to claim he has dementia.

On his Telegram channel in July last year, the former president wrote: ‘Russia cannot be held responsible for the fact that the Americans elected a strange grandfather with dementia as president.’
