Tony Adams seen in ‘heated argument’ with partner Katya Jones on Strictly after blunder-filled Salsa

Tony Adams appeared to be having a ‘heated argument’ with his professional partner Katya Jones during the closing moments of Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The former footballer, 56, had made a string of mistakes during his Salsa performance earlier in the night, and ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard with Katya, 33, admitting she’d shouted at him afterwards.

But it was when Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly were wrapping up the show that Tony could be seen speaking animatedly to the pro dancer, who had her back to the camera.

Oh dear! Tony Adams appeared to be having a ‘heated argument’ with his professional partner Katya Jones during the closing moments of Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing

Tony and Katya were hoping to improve on their highest scores from last week with a Salsa to ‘I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)’ by Pitbull.

Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be as the judges had some mixed remarks over the performance.

Craig Revel Horwood simply told the pair: ‘It didn’t work tonight – its a shame’, while Motsi Mabuse struggled to produce a compliment as she uttered: ‘You tried so hard… stuff goes on in life… pick up you crown, go out there and salsa it out!’

With Shirley Ballas trying to stay positive by praising Tony’s rotations and ‘fearless’ lifts, but added it was an ‘absolute shame’ that he went on the wrong foot and made ‘too many mistakes’.

Speaking to Claudia afterwards, Tony said: ‘I was too busy having fun!

‘The crowd was all up and it was great, then I looked down there and thought, “Oh sugar, what’s going on there?”

‘I looked at her face and she went, “Oh my god,”‘ with Katya then confessing she furiously shouted ‘focus’ at the sportsman.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Tony, Katya and the BBC for comment.

Week’s seven’s live show concluded with Hamza and Jowita topping the leaderboard with 38, while Tony and Katya languished at the bottom with just 21 points out of 40.

Elsewhere, Craig left BBC viewers fuming after giving comedian Ellie Taylor and her professional partner Johannes Radebe ‘harsh’ feedback and a low score.

Craig awarded Ellie and her partner Johannes a disappointing three for their Rumba to ‘Alone’ by Heart – despite topping the leaderboard last week.

When commenting on the performance, Craig said: ‘I thought it was a little bit stiff, actually. It felt like you were just walking around.’

Motsi marked the routine as a seven, along with Anton, while Shirley gave the pair a five. It didn’t take long for outraged viewers to question the low results.

Head judge Shirley said the ‘fluidity and flexibility was totally missing’, adding that she wouldn’t do them a ‘disservice’ by padding things out.

Fans took to Twitter to express their opinions on Craig’s voting, with one writing: ‘I normally agree with Craig but that 3 was unduly harsh.’

Another said: ‘The biggest injustice of the night – Craig giving Ellie a three and scoring Tony Adams higher.’

A third penned: ‘I’m actually annoyed that Craig scored Tony a 4 and Ellie T a 3.’

One commented: ‘Wow talk about a character assassination, just saw it on #Strictly done by Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood, neither have liked Ellie from the show start, that voting destroyed her.’

‘I actually feel sorry for Ellie T. She’s genuinely gutted and a 3 from Craig, didn’t think it was THAT bad,’ another wrote.

One Twitter user added: ‘I’ve seen rumbas far worse than that on #Strictly getting scored higher than a 3… I feel sorry for #Ellie and #Johannes. Sure, it wasn’t perfect but I thought it still looked beautiful. Certainly higher than a 3!’

Many fans were left fuming that Craig scored Tony and Katya a four after Ellie’s disappointing three.
