Today host Karl Stefanovic LOSES IT over ‘shrinkage’ joke live on air – leaving Sarah Abo almost speechless
Karl Stefanovic struggled to control his laughter on the Today show on Tuesday.
The 48-year-old and his co-anchor Sarah Abo interviewed a butcher who runs a 24-hour store with zero staff in Albury, New South Wales.
When Karl asked if the store had ever had problems with shoplifting, owner Jacob Wolki said it hadn’t been an issue.Â

‘We’ve had absolutely zero theft here in almost two years of trading,’ he said.
Wolki went on to explain how the shop works: customers must sign up to become a member and will then get a unique code to enter the store.
‘You can let yourself in 24/7 and there’s cameras under surveillance. And in two years, we’ve had zero shrinkage,’ he added.
The moment happened while the 48-year-old and his co-anchor Sarah Abo were interviewing a butcher who runs a 24-hour store with zero staff in Albury, NSW. Jacob Wolki (right) said there had been no ‘shrinkage’ of stock due to shoplifters, which made Karl burst into fits of giggles
In this context, ‘shrinkage’ meant loss of produce to theft. However, the word also refers to when a man’s penis shrivels in cold water.
The harmless remark caught Karl by surprise and he was unable to control his laughter as Sarah, 36, stumbled over her words.
‘Zero shrinkage. That’s handy… Um…’ she said.
‘I’m getting there as soon as I can!’ Karl then gasped.

It comes after Karl appeared to take a thinly veiled swipe at his mate Michael Clarke on Monday. Days earlier footage of him intervening in the cricketer’s blazing row with girlfriend Jade Yarbrough went viral.
Stefanovic joked on air he’d busted his ‘hammie’ – an apparent reference to the hamstring injury Clarke suffered in the Noosa fracas on January 10.
He made the remark after sports presenter Alex Cullen reported on Novak Djokovic’s torn hamstring at the Australian Open, which the Serbian tennis ace says he has been managing with ‘pills and hot cream’.Â

Back in the Today studio, Stefanovic hunched over his chair while pretending to wince in pain as his co-host Sarah Abo joked: ‘We might have a hamstring injury [here] as well.’
‘Can I get some hot cream please? Just done me hammy,’ Stefanovic groaned while smiling mischievously.Â
‘I don’t know how he did it either. He just was sitting there and now he’s standing up complaining about a hamstring injury,’ Abo said.
Stefanovic joked that Abo ‘wouldn’t understand’ his pain because she wasn’t an ‘elite athlete’ like him.Â
‘You can just pull a hammy by sitting down. Hot cream, please!’ he exclaimed.
