All the stars called out for being rude to staff as James Corden issues apology after ban

Over the years, stars such as Hailey Bieber, Judd Apatow, Leslie Mann and Kylie Jenner have been called out publicly for their poor treatment of serving staff at bars and restaurants.

And Monday saw James Corden join the list after he was lambasted online by the owner of NYC restaurant Balthazar, Keith McNally, for being the ‘most abusive customer’ ever.

The restaurateur shamed the Late Late Show host over two incidents – one in June and another in October – in which he yelled ‘like crazy’ at staff over an omelette and fries – and demanded free drinks ‘this second’.

‘James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago,’ McNally wrote in his scandalous Instagram post yesterday.

Corden, who is paid $36million-a-year for his Late Late Show on CBS, was forced to apologize after the restaurateur’s post immediately went viral.

Hours later, McNally posted an update and revealed that Corden had phoned to apologize ‘profusely’, and that he was no longer banned from the restaurant. 

‘Anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat lay about like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar….all is Forgiven,’ he said. 

The scandal is just the latest headline-making moment in which a famous name has been exposed for their less than impressive behavior while out in restaurants and bars.

In 2020, Hailey Bieber apologized to a former New York City restaurant hostess for not being nice during their interactions.

Meanwhile, multiple other servers have slammed celebrities in viral TikTok videos recalling their conduct.

Model Hailey Bieber – called out on TikTok for being rude to waiters

In 2020, model Hailey Bieber was called out in a viral TikTok by a former New York City hostess

Julia Carolan stated in her video: ‘I’ve met her a handful of times and every time she was not nice. I really wanna like her, but I have to give her a 3.5 out of 10. Sorry’

Former New York City restaurant hostess Julia Carolan went viral in 2020 when she rated the celebrities that she encountered while working in some of Manhattan’s trendiest eateries.

She gave model Hailey a rating of just 3.5/10 based on multiple encounters. 

‘This is gonna be controversial,’ Julia explained. ‘I’ve met her a handful of times and every time she was not nice. 

‘I really wanna like her, but I have to give her a 3.5 out of 10. Sorry,’ she stated with a cringe.

Just days after the video was posted, Hailey shared an apology and wrote in the comments: ‘Just came across this video, and wanted to say so sorry if I’ve ever given you bad vibes or a bad attitude. That’s not ever my intention.

‘Hate hearing that was your experience with me but glad u called me out so I can do better!! Hopefully we meet again so I can apologize in person.’

Julia accepted the apology and wrote back: ‘Hi Hailey! We love an accountability queen… thanks sm for taking the time to apologize—I hope we can meet again one day and start over. x’

Beauty mogul Kylie Jenner – called out on TikTok for leaving bad tips

Julia also shared her thoughts about reality star Kylie Jenner, who she claimed left a bad tip despite being a billionaire

The former hostess stated that  Kylie ‘was fine but she tipped $20 on a $500 dinner bill. Do with that information what you will’

Despite becoming a billionaire thanks to her makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics, it was claimed that the reality star was a shockingly bad tipper.

Julia likely encountered the star during her time as a hostess at Nobu Downtown. The venue counts Beyonce, Rihanna, the Kardashians, and many more as fans, while TAO Group fans include Sofia Vergara, Katie Holmes, Naomi Campbell, also the Kardashians, and many more.

Ariana Grande – licked and spat on doughnuts without buying them

Ariana Grande – pictured at the 62nd Grammy Awards in January 2020 – was caught on camera licking doughnuts in Lake Elsinore and then putting them back on the rack for sale in 2015. She then posted a groveling apology video and apologised for ‘messing up’

Following Ariana’s visit, the manager claimed the shop had been demoted to a ‘B’ in its health inspection. In her apology video, Ariana said: ‘I’m gonna learn from my mistakes and I’m gonna learn from messing up.’

She’s famous for her sugary-sweet persona – but back in 2015, Ariana Grande landed herself in hot water after video emerged of her spitting on doughnuts without then purchasing them.

In a video obtained by TMZ, the Thank U Next songstress was seen standing next to a rack of freshly baked goods in Wolfee Donut shop in Lake Elsinore before subtly picking several up and licking them.

Following the incident, the manager said it contributed to the shop being demoted to a ‘B’ in its health inspection as an employee hadn’t noticed her contaminating the doughnuts and unknowingly put them on display. 

And if that wasn’t controversial enough, Ariana was also overheard muttering ‘I hate America’ – which sparked outrage among her fanpage.

Posting a groveling apology video afterwards, the pop star said: ‘I’ve still got a lot to learn and I’ll make mistakes and that’s how I’m gonna learn. I’m gonna learn from my mistakes and I’m gonna learn from messing up.’ 

Actress Leslie Mann and director Judd Apatow – called out on TikTok for being rude

Los Angeles comedian and former waitress Annie Bond spoke her encounter with Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow  and said that while she ‘wanted to like [them] so much, but they were so rude’

She gave the Knocked Up director and his actress wife a 1/10 rating in the TikTok video

In February 2021, Los Angeles comedian and former waitress Annie Bond opened up about her experience when serving food to the stars.

‘Just to be clear,’ Annie prefaced in one of her videos. ‘I’m rating the experience I had with [these celebrities], not their value as a human being.’

She wouldn’t name the LA hotspot that she worked at for five years, but did share details about ‘rude’ celebrity couple Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann.

The Knocked Up director and his actress wife Leslie Mann were not her favorite customers, rating just 1/10. 

‘I wanted to like [them] so much but they were so rude,’ she revealed. 

She tried to give them the benefit of the doubt in her video, adding: ‘Maybe they were just having a bad day?’

Actor Darren Criss – called out on TikTok for being demanding by restaurant staff

Former waitress Annie Bond claimed that actor Darren Criss was demanding with staff

She stated that the actor is ‘the guy who flags down everybody he sees, even though he just asked somebody for the thing that he needs’

Annie Bond also had a less-than-positive experience with Glee actor Darren Criss.

‘Darren Criss is the guy who comes to the restaurant who doesn’t understand that there is one server per table,’ she said. ‘He’s the guy who flags down everybody he sees, even though he just asked somebody for the thing that he needs.’

‘He wasn’t my table, I was working in a similar section, so I got flagged down a lot by this guy, and I don’t like those kinds of people, so 5/10.’ 

She then corrected herself, deciding that was ‘too nice’ and he only deserved 3/10.

Kendall Jenner – called out for being cold to staff in restaurants

Julia Carolan claimed that Kendall Jenner ‘used to come in all the time but was pretty cold toward staff. She also usually has someone speak for her and doesn’t speak directly to staff’

Former customer service representative at Los Angeles International Airport, Cindy also had negative experiences with Kendall Jenner 

In 2014, Page Six reported that Kendall once left a restaurant without paying her bill after the restaurant refused to serve her alcohol for being underage. 

When the server Blaine Morris ran out to ask for the money which was around $60, he claimed that she threw the money at him.

Blaine, who was an actress on the MTV show Skin, tweeted: ‘That horrible moment you chase a Kardashian down the street because she forgot to pay her bill to be thrown money in your face.’

Kendall’s attorney denied the claim and said that the model was ‘extremely apologetic’ and she had ‘politely handed’ Blaine $33 plus $7 in tips.  

Meanwhile, Julia Carolan had also stated how cold Kendall was towards staff in her viral TikTok video. 

She explained: ‘This is another one where unfortunately I didn’t have the best experience with them. She used to come in and was pretty cold to our staff. 

‘She also usually has someone speak for her and doesn’t speak to staff. I want to say I should give her the benefit of the doubt but from my experience, she was a four out of ten.’

Then in August 2020, another user @_sincindy, posted a series of video titled, ‘Rating celebs I’ve met working at LAX.’

Cindy gave Kendall a 2/10 rating and said: ‘Every time she flew out she was not really friendly to anybody and just walked around really arrogant.’

Julia Carolan also called out YouTube star Cameron Dallas in her TikTok video and gave him a 4/10 rating for being demanding and entitled. 

‘I kind of had a bad experience with him. Him and his friend called after we were closed and insisted on a table — and kind of pulled a ‘do you know who I am’ moment,’ she stated. ‘He was rude.’

Meanwhile, Cindy also called out the star and gave him a 1/10 rating for being exactly what she ‘expected.’ 

‘He thought that it was funny [to be] running late to the plane as 400-plus people were waiting for him and my supervisors were yelling at him,’ she recalled. 

‘He laughed and wanted to take his time getting on board. Not cute.’

Actress Anna Kendrick – called out on TikTok for being rude to stylist

New York-based TikTok user IAmTahira spilled the beans about working Anna Kendrick and called her a ‘terrible person’

Tahira said that she would ‘never support anything this chick does’ after the way she behaved 

In February 2021, New York-based TikTok user IAmTahira spilled the beans on the celebrities she helped over the years, detailing all the behavior she experienced from A-listers during her time working at Barneys in Manhataan.

Tahira rated Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick as -100/10, calling her a ‘terrible person’.

The stylist said she had actually met Anna while working at a different store in 2016, where Anna was doing a book signing.

While on tour for her book, Scrappy Little Nobody, the actress made a stop at Club Monaco on 5th Avenue in New York on November 15, 2016.

‘My job was to pull a few look options for her to wear for the signing,’ Tahira explained. ‘I’m walking her through the racks [and] she won’t speak to me — that’s strike one. I’m asking her, “Do you want to wear pants? Or do you want to wear a dress?” She won’t say anything.

Rapper Nicki Minaj was also mentioned in Cindy’s TikTok video, with the hitmaker only being given a 2/10 rating.

‘I know some people are going to come for me for this one, but 2/10,’ Cindy said of the rapper. 

‘She was a huge b***h and wouldn’t get off the aircraft until everybody else got off, which she can’t do because the flight attendants need to get off.’

She added: ‘She was a b***h to my co-worker. I was a fan before I met her. After…yeah, no.’
