Stephen Colbert’s false claim that GoP candidate Tudor Dixon ‘made up’ a story about a Democrat voter switching to Republican can be disproved today by a video which shows the man, a Muslim father-of-five, telling his story at a town hall two weeks ago.Ā Ā
Khalil Othman, 41, spoke at an October 21 meeting in Dearborn, Michigan, where he denounced the Democrats and vowed to vote Republican after becoming horrified by sexually explicit materials in his children’s books.Ā He told Dixon, who is running against incumbent Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer, that she had his vote.Ā
Dixon used his story during a debate as proof of why so many Americans are being turned off the Democrat party but Colbert assumed she had made it up.Ā
‘This guy, she totally made up,’ he said of Othman.Ā He then proceeded to mock the story, saying: ‘EvenĀ if it did, if someone found a book they didn’t like in a school library,Ā why would they go to the Democrats?Ā That’s like saying “excuse me, is this Chuck Schumer’s office? I didn’t like the finale of House of the Dragon. Also this peanut butter is way too oily in the cupboard but too hard in the fridge. I’m voting Republican!'”Ā
Colbert, who is paid millions to host The Late Show, won laughs from his Los Angeles studio audience but neither Othman nor Dixon found it amusing.Ā ‘Hello Stephen, I am real,’ Othman wrote on Facebook.Ā
Dixon went further, demanding an apology from Colbert on his show and telling DailyMail.com that his treatment of Othman is the reason so many voters will turn from blue to red on November 8.Ā
‘Here we are, having a very serous situation across Michigan, and the media arm of the Democrats is belittling this father and making fun of concerns, saying heās not even real?Ā
‘Voters feel like they’ll be laughed at if they express their concerns,’ she said in an interview on Thursday morning.Ā

Khalil Othman, a 41-year-old Yemeni immigrant who moved to the US with his family 17 years ago, is very much realĀ
Othman said he was ready to switch sides because he believes Republicans will protect his children more than Democrats willĀ
Othman, 41, also took to Facebook to correct Colbert who wrongly claimed he wasn’t real during his CBS show last nightĀ
Dixon demanded an on-air apology from the CBS hostĀ
‘The Dearborn man I referenced in the debate is real and his story is compelling. Does the very unfunny Stephen ColbertĀ have the courage to admit he was wrong and acknowledge him?’Ā
DailyMail.com can also share the video of his speech about choosing to switch from Democrat to Republican.
‘I am among hundreds maybe thousands of people in Dearborn who are ready fo r the red tsunami.Ā I am a proud Muslim American who expressed my values and concerns all the time.Ā
‘Dearborn has been voting Democrat blue for the last two decades but not anymore.Ā On behalf of myself and my family, I can guarantee you for sure that myĀ family will vote Republicans all the way because of this destructive policyĀ that is destroying families today,’ he said.Ā
On Facebook, he said he was ready to ‘divorce the Democrats’.Ā
‘Ever since immigrating to this great country almost 20 years ago, I’ve been a loyal Democrat.Ā
‘Never once did I ever vote Republican. However, the situation with the sexually explicit material in the schools was for me a bridge too far. When it comes to my kids and my family, I will not budge. Family before party!Ā
‘I decided to go see Tudor Dixon in Flat Rock, MI and make my own judgement. During her speech, she spoke at length about parental rights and her opposition to sexually explicit materials in school. Afterwards, I spoke to Tudor Dixon and dozens of her supporters.Ā
‘They treated me with love and respect. They told me they were inspired by the parents of Dearborn for standing up for what is right.Ā I announce today that I hereby divorce the Democrat party and I STAND WITH PARENTS!!’Ā
CBS host Stephen Colbert claimed a story about a voter defecting from the Democrats to the GOP was ‘totally made up’, but now the voter in question is speaking out
Dixon, a former conservative radio host, gained the GOP nomination in Michigan after securing Donald Trump’s endorsement. She trails in the polls by a slim margin
‘To claim that I’m not here, I don’t exist, I’m not human, that’s absolute ignorance,’ Khalil Othman, 41, (above) told the Detroit Free Press regarding Colbert’s remarks
In an interview with local Michigan outlet Detroit Free Press, Othman said that Colbert’s remarks were reductive.Ā
‘To claim that I’m not here, I don’t exist, I’m not human, that’s absolute ignorance.
‘If this person did his due diligence and start researching or has his team do a little bit of research of who’s this person who attended Dixon’s rally, they will be able to find my name right away easy on social media.Ā
‘Just Google it.’
Dixon said Colbert’s attitude was demonstrative of the arrogance of a liberal elite thinking they know everything.Ā
‘I told his story (during the debate) of Othman to hundreds in Dearborn. and Stephen Colbert picks it up. And they make this whole skit about how this has never happened. That’s what he said, this story never happened.Ā
‘That’s where the Democrats are right now. You don’t exist, your stories are not important.’Ā Ā
