Mass exodus! The Veronicas are the latest stars to leave Australia and move to the US after collaborating with Blink 182’s Travis Barker

The Veronicas are waving goodbye to Australia for good and making a permanent move to the United States next year.

After a productive writing session with John Feldmann and Blink 182’s Travis Baker in Los Angeles in July, Jess and Lisa Origliasso, 37, have their sights set on international stardom.

While the twins are ‘sad’ to be leaving home, they said it was time to head back to the country where they got their big break.

‘The US is where we started it all and it’s always been a major focus for us,’ Jess told the Courier Mail. ‘We are going to sign management over there as well and we feel the future for the Veronicas is over there.

‘We’re leaving Australia unfortunately, which is sad, but we’re really excited to be able to really connect with all of our fans more on the international scale.’

They said the US has always been in their future, but they were relived to be in Australia for the last few years to look after their mother who passed away last September from progressive supranuclear palsy.

While playing some big gigs in Australia, the sisters were signed in a seven-year deal with Sony Music, which ended earlier this year.

Since their break from the record label, they have spent more and more time in the US with their American partners, Logan Hoffman and Alex Smith, while they play around in the studio with Feldmann, 55.

The Veronicas have known and worked with Feldmann since their 2007 hit Hook Me Up and even introduced boy band 5 Seconds of Summer to him, kicking off their own move to the American music market.

‘John always has us in to do sessions whenever we are back in LA and when we were there last time working on some songs he said, “You should release this on my label, we want the new Veronicas stuff,”‘ Jess said.

They signed a deal with Big Noise record label in Malibu the following day with new music already planned for release in 2023.

The inaugural When We Were Young event in Las Vegas next October has already snapped up the pop sisters, booking them alongside the likes of Green Day, Blink 182, The Offspring, 30 Seconds To Mars, Good Charlotte and 5SOS.

The Veronicas are not the only Aussie musicians to leave for the big wigs in the American music industry.

Rufus Du Sol, Dean Lewis, Flume, Tame Impala, 5SOS and Alison Wonderland all booked it over seas to find global fame.

Some festivals in the US have also cast their eye on Tones and I for next year.
