For the second time in the space of a week, Twitter is experiencing technical trouble.

According to DownDetector, the issues started at around 16:30 GMT on Monday and are affecting more than 4,000 users worldwide.

According to NetBlocks, Twitter is experiencing international slowdowns and outages that are affecting image and video content.

Those who are able to access the platform on mobile and desktop are seeing blank images where photos should be.

MailOnline tried to post a photo on Twitter and was only able to see a blank brown square in the post.

There were also problems posting functioning links to websites.

One Twitter user posted a photo with the comment: ‘Is Twitter down bro? This is literally all I’m seeing … sh*t won’t even load pictures or videos, Elon stop ruining the app.

MailOnline has contacted Twitter for comment, although there haven’t been any replies from the firm’s communications department since Musk laid off its staff last autumn.

On March 1, Twitter experienced a three-hour outage just days after Elon Musk laid off another 200 employees.

The outages have been increasing ever since Musk began running Twitter, leading to speculation that there aren’t enough people to fix its problems.

In February alone, the site experienced at least four widespread outages, compared with nine in all of 2022, according to NetBlocks.

Musk’s newest round of layoffs brought Twitter’s workforce down to under 2,000 — a sharp fall from the 7,500 employed when the billionaire first took over in October.
