A Texas woman has been sentenced to life in prison for leaving her 7-year-old bedridden daughter with Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy alone while she went clubbing. 

Lauren Kay Dean pleaded guilty to murder Wednesday and received the life sentence plus 20 years for endangerment of a child over the 2020 death of daughter Jordynn Barrera.

A complaint was filed against Dean back on January 30, 2020 claiming that the mother of three left her kids at home to go to a bar called Shades. 

Police in Bay City, Texas went to Dean’s apartment shortly after to do a welfare check. 

When investigators spoke to Dean, she offered to let them come in to show the children were well but they found 7-year-old Jordynn dead, according to ABC13

Jordynn required round-the-clock care, including a feeding tube, with Dean now found guilty of murdering her daughter by neglecting her needs.

Dean’s two other children, five years old and just three months, were also found at the apartment. 

Jordynn was a non-verbal child who had been diagnosed early on with Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy. 

Authorities have also said that the 7-year-old girl was only able to eat through a feeding tube. 

Dean was arrested and jailed on charges of abandonment, child endangerment and imminent danger bodily injury.

Dean pleaded guilty as part of a bargain to avoid the death penalty and to avoid a jury trial on October 5. 

She pled on capital murder of a person under the age of 10 and three counts of child abandonment.
