Aldi joins Lidl and Asda in lifting rationing on the amount of salad items customers can buy as supply issues which caused shortages ease

Aldi is joining Lidl and Asda in lifting limits on the amount of fresh produce customers can buy, as supply issues which led to shortages begin to ease.

Yesterday, Aldi said: ‘From Monday, Aldi will remove all purchasing restrictions on fresh produce, including tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.’

Lidl also plans to lift all limits on fruit and veg by tomorrow.

Asda has removed most limits – leaving restrictions on tomatoes and peppers – saying availability overall has improved as expected.

Shortages began around three weeks ago, with retailers blaming bad weather in Morocco and Spain and related transport problems.
