Could SAS Australia be returning to the small screen?

Despite its underwhelming ratings earlier this year, the gruelling military-style reality show looks set for another season on Channel Seven, after chief instructor Ant Middleton was spotted at Sydney Airport on Monday.

The British former solider, 41, had just flown in from Perth when he spotted a familiar paparazzo and offered a knowing glance.

Ant sported a casual look as he walked through Sydney’s domestic terminal.

At one stage, he locked eyes with the photographer and wagged his finger.

The sighting came just hours after Ant posted a cryptic tweet hinting at a possible return to Aussie television.

‘Thank you Perth… Sydney here I come babyyyy!’ he wrote, adding the hashtag #guesswhosback.

Season three of SAS Australia had a rough start in early 2022, especially when compared to previous years.

The opening episode recorded a dismal 467,000 metro viewers. By contrast, the launch of the 2021 season had 647,000 viewers.

Season one’s premiere recorded almost double that of season three, reaching a whopping 834,000 viewers in the five major cities.

But despite the falling ratings, SAS Australia is up for a Logie Award for Most Popular Reality Program this year.

It is going up against The Block (Nine), Celebrity Apprentice (Nine), I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (Channel 10), MAFS (Nine), and MasterChef (Channel 10).

The winners of this year’s season of SAS Australia were NRL star Darius Boyd, NRLW player Millie Boyle and motorsports presenter Riana Crehan.
