The daughter of a high-profile Sydney property developer – who is also a top lawyer – has been charged over an alleged multi-million dollar fraud plot.

Ashlyn Nassif, 27, spent the night behind bars after NSW Police executed search warrants on four properties on Tuesday, including her father Jean’s home and business.

Ms Nassif was questioned for hours after attending Sydney’s Day Street police station and was charged over her alleged role in a fraud scheme allegedly amounting to tens of millions of dollars.

She will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday on charges of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception and publishing false or misleading material to obtain advantage.

There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by Mr Nassif, who is currently in his home country of Lebanon, where he is reportedly recovering from a medical procedure.

A NSW Police statement said the raids occurred at businesses in the Sydney CBD, Concord and Chiswick about 9.30am on Tuesday.

Ms Nassif then handed herself in to police, was arrested, charged and refused bail.

She has previously worked as a property developer at her father’s company and is a principal of her own law practice, EA Legal Pty Ltd.

Jean Nassif gained prominence in 2019 after giving his wife Nisserine ‘Nissy’ Nassif a $480,000 yellow Lamborghini for Valentine’s Day.

While the flamboyant property developer has been in Lebanon, he missed attending a NSW parliamentary inquiry into the alleged impropriety of local councillors.

The inquiry is into the Hills Shire Council in the city’s north-west and the alleged role councillors played in property developments.

Nassif wrote to the committee to inform them that he is in a remote part of Lebanon where he’s originally from until March and therefore unable to attend the inquiry, asking for it to be postponed if his evidence was needed.

In the letter, Mr Nassif denied any wrongdoing and said he had ‘not met any of the current councillors of the Hills Shire Council’.

‘I am not aware if they support my developments. I am not aware if they are more or less supportive of my development than the previous councillors.’Ā

Mr Nassif strenuously disputed Castle Hill MP Ray Williams’ claims that he paid large sums of money to elect new councillors to The Hills Shire to support his future development applications.

Mr Williams previously told NSW Parliament he had heard allegations members were paid ‘significant funds in order to put new councillors on’ who would support future development applications for Mr Nassif’s company.

It was those comments that led to the upper house inquiry.Ā

Mr Nassif also took aim at retiring Transport Minister and local MP David Elliott in his letter, alleging he tried to ‘discredit internal opponents’ so he could remain in office.

‘I sincerely question why Mr Elliott didn’t apply this time and effort towards; obeying the law, being a better minister, building support for himself within his electorate and the Liberal Party,’ the letter said.

He also accused Mr Elliott of ‘urging journalists’ to report on alleged improprieties involving his developments.

In 2019, Mr Nassif uploaded a video of him presenting the luxury vehicle to the mother of his children with the comment, ‘Congratulations Mrs Nassifā€¦ you like?’

In the video of Mr Nassif presenting his wife with a yellow Lamborghini, she was captured strolling into the couple’s garage where the car was parked.

Wearing a Gucci belt, Mrs Nassif stood beside the vehicle before blowing kisses to her followers.

The Nassifs were mocked for the ostentatious display with several meme videos popping up on social media where wheelie bins and toy trucks were among the items swapped for the luxury car.

After Mrs Nassif became fed up with the meme videos she took to Instagram to respond, telling people to focus on themselves and ‘how you can provide a good luxurious life for yourselves, your wives, children and loved ones’.
