Susanna Reid puts on a leggy display in a sparkly black wrap dress as she cuddles up to her mother Sue Smith at the Who Cares Wins awards

Susanna Reid put on a leggy display on Wednesday as she joined her mother Sue Smith at The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Awards at The Roundhouse in London’s Camden on Tuesday afternoon.

The Good Morning Britain host, 51, looked fabulous in a sequinned black wrap dress while posing for a number of glamorous snaps on the red carpet.

The event celebrates dedicated healthcare workers in a star-studded ceremony hosted by TV presenter Davina McCall with awards including Best Doctor, Best Midwife and Best Team.

Susanna ensured she pulled out all the stops for the evening, teaming her knee-length sparkling dress with pointed black heels and silver drop earrings.

The broadcaster styled her brunette locks in soft waves while she finished off her look with a radiant palette of make-up.

Susanna beamed for the camera as she posed for solo snaps before sharing a hug with her mother, 81, on the red carpet.

Sue meanwhile, who is a nurse, looked lovely in a shimmering grey knit jumper which she teamed with a bright pink scarf and a black maxi skirt. 

It comes after Susanna said she felt ‘privileged’ to be able to queue for over seven hours to see the Queen lying in state in September.

She queued up with her mother Sue in order to pay her respects in Westminster Hall.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Susanna said: ‘It’s an enormous privilege to have been able to have done that, to pay our respects.

‘Whether you are religious or not, a royalist or not, it feels like a sort of pilgrimage, and a historic moment, a historic opportunity.’

Ben Shephard added: ‘It’s huge commitment, when we were talking and you were in the queue for seven hours and 20 minutes in total with your mum and a friend.

‘When you do anything like that, and endeavour, because it really is an endeavour to stay that long for this moment, you can understand why, for some, they are overwhelmed with emotion.

Susanna continued: ‘When I was in the queue, young children, patiently and uncomplainingly stood for hours. I was so proud of my mum at 81 queuing with me.

She took to Twitter on the day, saying: ‘Evening – along with my lovely mum and her very good friend, I have just experienced a moment in history – witnessing the Queen lying in state in Westminster Hall. At once majestic and peaceful.’ 

Her words came amid huge backlash for  Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who were forced to deny they queue-jumped after they filmed a segment for This Morning.
