Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew backs radical proposal for ‘adults-only suburbs’ so child-free people can enjoy ‘peace and quiet’

Edwina Bartholomew supports the idea of ‘adults-only’ suburbs and venues for child-free individuals who want some peace and quiet.

Despite being a mother of two young children herself, the Sunrise newsreader says she understands the benefits of spaces where kids aren’t allowed.

‘I think it’s a brilliant idea,’ she wrote in her News Corp column. ‘I love my kids. I love their company but I don’t love the sound of someone else’s screaming child.’

‘All my three-year-old wanted to do was run around, chasing her shadow on Monet’s Water Lilies.

‘I found myself shushing her as high-falutin’ arty types glared at us, preferring to take in the exhibition in contemplative silence.’

The Channel Seven star’s comments come after a Melbourne TikToker called for ‘adults-only’ suburbs.

The 27-year-old woman, known as Baby Soja, said in the video, which has since gone viral, these areas need to be created for people like her who ‘hate kids’.

She said she is ‘so sick’ of children disturbing the ‘peace and quiet’ of swimming pools and other public areas.

‘I would like to know when somebody is planning on opening an adults only suburb where everything in it is only for adults,’ the TikToker said.

Her annoyance arose after she went for a swim in a pool and kids were jumping in and out of the lap lane and preventing people from exercising.

‘They have their own pool and they’re in the lap lane pool, not swimming laps just jumping in screaming, and that’s just allowed because they’re allowed everywhere,’ she said.

‘I just feel like people like me who are evil and hate kids we should have our own suburb where we can just be quiet and undisturbed.’
