‘Australasian drag is spectacularly sickening, and I can’t wait for a new cast of queens to flash their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent.’

The announcement comes hot off the heels of drag queen Spankie Jackzon being crowned Season 2’s Down Under Drag Race superstar.

Season 2 was also recently nominated for a 2022 AACTA Award in the Best Entertainment Program category.

Casting for Season 3 closed last week, with a new line-up of the fiercest Australian and New Zealand drag queens set to battle it out on the runway to take home the crown in 2023.

‘The fans spoke and we listened! Both seasons of Stan Original Series RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under have been such a hit that we knew we had to go for round 3,’ Stan’s Chief Content Officer Cailah Scobie said.

‘Aussies love seeing our exceptional homegrown talent in what’s known as the “Olympics of Drag” and we can’t wait to see all the incredible new queens that will soon sashay on to our screens.’

Spankie Jackzon was announced the winner of Season 2 and was overcome with emotion after winning the $50,000 prize money and a year’s supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics.

The New Zealand native, 37, said back in September after being crowned that she ‘couldn’t be more stoked and proud’ of herself.

‘I was literally shocked. I was like, “F**k, are you serious?! Did you watch the same show?”‘ she told Daily Mail Australia.

As for the cash prize, the Palmerston-born drag queen said she’s looking forward to putting the $50,000 towards something very special.

‘I’d like to put the money into a house. I’ve probably got enough for a deposit now,’ she said.

‘I suppose that’s the one thing that we all kind of, you know, hope to be able to do. And it’s just becoming less and less attainable.’

The stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under also toured Australia last month.

The tour, which ran throughout September and October, saw winners and fan favourites from seasons one and two reunite for a live extravaganza in five major cities.

RuPaul Charles recently hosted Drag Race in the US, which had its 14th season this year, and has since launched several spin-off series including the Australian and New Zealand franchise, which began in 2021.

All episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Stan.
