Woman dies after car ploughs into her house as driver tries to flee the scene with her baby before she is arrested

A woman has died after a car veered off the road and smashed through her home while the alleged driver has been arrested after fleeing with her baby.Ā
Emergency crews rushed to a home on Monfarville Street at St Marys, in Sydney‘s west, after receiving reports a car had crashed into it about 5.20am on Saturday.Ā
Police arrived to find a gaping hole in the cladding, with debris surrounding a car and a gravely injured 50-year-old woman.Ā

Police and New South Wales Ambulance paramedics made desperate attempts to treat her before she died at the scene.
The three other occupants of the home were reportedly uninjured.
A 29-year-old woman allegedly left the car and fled with her child in hand before she was stopped by police near the scene.Ā
The alleged driver was then arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for mandatory testing.Ā
Both her and her child were reportedly uninjured.Ā
‘Officers from Nepean Police Area Command have established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit,’ NSW Police said in a statement.
‘An investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash.’

The horrifying wreckage left at the property shows the car punctured all the way through the home.
The impact crumpled the building’s thin side-walls and left a trail of wreckage through the house.Ā
Behind the home, the car stopped by a garden shed with house materials and personal belongings littered over the lawn ā including a mattress and two halves of a leather arm chair.
Police will continue to investigate on Saturday.Ā
