Gym-goer is fighting for life after being crushed by weights during an early morning work-out session

A man is fighting for a life in a critical condition after he was crushed by weights at an unstaffed inner-city gym.

Emergency services were called to the Snap Fitness gym on Turbot Street at Spring Hill, in Brisbane‘s CBD, at about 5.47am on Thursday following reports a man was caught under the weights.

Paramedics provided treatment before he was transported by ambulance to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

It’s believed the man was extricated from the weights set by emergency personnel by 6.20am before he underwent treatment.

The 24-hour gym is only staffed between 10am and 7pm on Monday to Thursday and 9am-2pm on Fridays.
