There were 15 people on the bus and one person in the truck. The highway was shut down for twelve hours as police investigated the accident, which they described as ‘gruesome.’

The truck was a Penske box truck, and was reportedly fully loaded.Â
The bus appeared to be a shuttle bus and bore branding from LBFNY, a New York based solar company.
It is unclear whether the bus was actually affiliated with the LBFNY, but according to its website the company has two projects based in the area of the crash. Â
According to 7NEWS, numerous people involved in the accident did not speak English.

Road conditions were icy at the time of the crash, and the highway could be seen piled with tall banks of snow on either side. Visibility was also low at the time of the crash.
‘Everybody worked really good together. Everybody was on the same page. But like I said it was a very difficult scene for everyone there,’ St. Lawrence County Emergency Services Director Matt Denner said.Â
‘We had ambulances from Potsdam from Canton, Ogdensburg, Norfork. We were not lacking transporting agencies or EMTS.’
