Heartbreaking moment one year-old toddler is dumped alone at US border by ‘coyote’ people smuggler

The heart-wrenching moment a one-year-old Guatemalan boy was dumped at the U.S. border by a ‘coyote’ people smuggler has been caught on camera. 

The smuggler simply left the child along the Colorado River to fend for himself after crossing the border from Mexico earlier this week.   

Surveillance cameras positioned directly along Mexico border with Arizona sees the smuggler coming out of the water and placing the child onto a path between two sections of the border, where he then callously abandons the child.

The smuggler then makes a swim for it back across the border into Mexico leaving the child all alone.

The child can be seen standing completely alone at the border. A patrol car spots him through the fence

Luckily, the child was spotted by a Border Patrol agent who provided help and rushed to help

The abandoned youngster appears completely bewildered and begins to walk around on his own moments later, just feet away from the water. 

Incredibly, a eagle-eyed Border Patrol agent spotted the kid through the fence and sped in his SUV patrol vehicle to his aid, bringing him to his unit.

U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz tweeted video of the incident stating ‘Tragedy was averted!’ 

‘A one-year-old Guatemalan child was abandoned along the Colorado River Monday afternoon by a smuggler who took him across the border and then left him to fend for himself along the water’s edge. Thanks to our agent’s quick response. …’ Ortiz wrote.

Ortiz later shared a picture of the border agent holding the boy: ‘Picture of child safe with an Agent.’

The video of the young child has since been retweeted almost 1,000 times, with hundreds of others liking it and generating a host of responses
