Shakira appeared to have a spring in her step on Tuesday, but the shoes responsible for it raised more than a few eyebrows as she ventured out in Rome.
The Colombian singer, 45, is currently enjoying a winter break in the picturesque Italian capital with sons Milan, nine, and Sasha, seven, her two children with estranged husband Gerard Piqué.
But it was her questionable footwear that caught the eye as they stopped for lunch at legendary local restaurant Alfredo Alla Scrofa – cited as the birthplace of traditional Italian dish Fettuccine.

At £715 a pair, Shakira’s Bottega Veneta platform sandals were no doubt worth the price of several signature dishes at the the popular Roman eatery, but unlike the food they were perhaps not to everyone’s taste.
The singer teamed her chunky footwear with vibrant green socks, while white joggers, matching top and a colourful orange jacket rounded off the ensemble.
With a baseball cap and white Balenciaga handbag serving as her only notable accessories, Shakira ensured she stood out during a whistle-stop tour of the city.

The singer was seen posing for photos with her children as they visited Rome’s Imperial Forums and the Piazza del Campidoglio, a historic square and elliptical courtyard designed by Michelangelo Buonarroti.
A local Gladiator school was also on the itinerary, with Shakira and her two boys getting an insight into the centuries old form of combat from a tutor dressed in full gladiatorial regalia.
The family holiday comes just weeks after Shakira and former FC Barcelona footballer Gerard reunited in court to ratify their separation child custody agreement.
The exes announced their separation in June after 11 years together, and last month said that they’d come to a suitable arrangement for their children Sasha, seven, and Milan, nine, after a 12-hour talk.

They formally signed the agreement in Barcelona, entering and exiting the court separately while flagged by their legal teams.
After recently starring in Burberry’s winter campaign, the singer was seen carrying the British heritage brand’s £1,790 trench coat.
Last month, Shakira and Gerard confirmed they had signed a child custody agreement to avoid them warring in court.

Gerard, who retired from football this year, is said to have given his blessing to his former partner’s move to Miami in the New Year with their two sons.
Shakira’s wish to move to the city where she used to live and part of her family are based is understood to have been the principal sticking point in the couple’s previous failure to strike an out-of-court settlement.
They said in their joint statement: ‘We wish to communicate that we have signed an agreement that guarantees the wellfare of our children and that will be ratified in court as part of a mere formal procedure.
