Shakira is reportedly planning to move to Miami in three weeks time.

Last year, it was revealed she was making the move with sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, eight, after negotiating the move in a child custody deal with Gerard Pique.

Shakira’s wish to move to Miami where she used to live and part of her family are based is understood to have been the principal sticking point in the former couple’s previous failure to strike an out-of-court settlement.

She was expected to move to the States at the end of the school year after putting back an original departure date in early January because of her 91-year-old dad William Mubarak’s poor health.

But speculation is growing the Colombian singer-songwriter has now set her heart on a new date of April 1.

Laura Fa, one of two journalists who regularly report on the mother-of-two, told Catalan newspaper El Periodico: ‘What we’re being told today is that she’s got a scheduled date to move there which would be April 1.

‘If everything pans out she wants to go on that date.’

Colleague Lorena Vasquez added: ‘This is information we’re receiving from the former couple’s closest circle.

‘The only obstacle would be the health of Shakira’s father and it’s been well-documented that his health is a little bit complicated at the moment.

‘Shakira’s idea is to take advantage of the Spring Break in the States to be able to travel to Miami with her sons so they could start their classes when the children there come back to class.’

MailOnline has contacted Shakira’s representatives for comment.

Earlier in the year it was revealed Shakira had been forced to delay her move to America because of her dad’s health.

It was revealed at the start of January: ‘She cannot make the trip to Miami at the moment.

‘The state of health of her father is very complicated and he wouldn’t be able to cope with the flight unless it’s in a medicalised aircraft. For the time being she’s going to stay put in Barcelona.’

Shakira’s dad was hospitalised in Barcelona last year after a fall.

He spent Christmas with his daughter in the Catalan capital after being released from the private Teknon Medical Centre in November and being put under 24/7 professional at-home care.

Shakira and Gerard confirmed in November they had signed a child custody agreement after a protracted negotiation which came to a head with a marathon 12-hour meeting with their lawyers. They signed the accord at a court in Barcelona in December.

As part of the agreement the retired Barcelona defender, now dating 23-year-old Catalan beauty Clara Chia, will spend holiday time with his children.

The pair, who split in May after more than a decade together, said in their joint statement: ‘We wish to communicate that we have signed an agreement that guarantees the welfare of our children and that will be ratified in court as part of a mere formal procedure.

‘Our sole objective is to provide them with the upmost security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected.

‘We appreciate the interest shown and hope that the children can continue with their lives with the necessary privacy in a safe and calm environment.’

Shakira said in her first TV interview last month since her split with Gerard she has come out of their painful break-up ‘strengthened’ and now feels self-sufficient.

The artist said she had previously bought into the ‘story’ a woman needs a man but claimed: ‘I now feel complete because I depend on myself.’

And in an apparent new swipe at Gerard’s new lover, who she targeted in her hit song with Argentinian DJ Bizarrap released in January, she said: ‘There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.’

She has penned and performed a number of diss songs since her split with Gerard.

She compared herself to a Rolex and appeared to brand her ex’s new lover Clara a Casio in her song with Bizarrap last month.

She also sang: ‘I’m worth two 22s’ in a clear jib at Clara, who was 22 when is believed to have started dating Gerard compared to Shakira’s 44.

More recently the singer shared a clip of her singing along to SZA’s hit song Kill Bill on Valentine’s Day as she lip-synced the lyrics ‘I might kill my ex.’

She had already appeared to attack her ex in a song she released last October called Monotonia, Monotony in English, with references to the ‘narcissism’ and ‘cold as Christmas’ attitude of a man she is breaking up with.

In the video for that song a mystery man fans have claimed is a representation of Gerard shoots a hole in Shakira’s heart as she stocks up with snacks during a late-night trip to the supermarket.

The Colombian went on to write a New Year post on Instagram about betrayal and heartache, winning support from Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo who responded to her dig at her ex with three heart emoticons.
