However Courteney revealed that in Scream IV, for the first time, her character Gale Weathers will have to hold her own against Ghostface without knowing who it is.

I’ve obviously been stabbed many times and all that, but this time, to work with Ghostface and not know who’s under the mask, it was a really fun,’ she said in a new interview with Variety. ‘Usually by the time I’m getting stabbed, I know who it is.’

Meanwhile Neve Campbell, who became a boldface name through the slasher series, declined to be in Scream VI because of money.

Neve revealed in an interview with Deadline last year that she had turned down an offer to return for Scream VI because she felt her pay was insufficient.

‘As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream,’ she said.

‘I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise,’ the 49-year-old actress explained.

She had thus far been inextricably associated with the franchise, which has grossed over $744 million cumulatively worldwide..’

Courteney has consequently had to make a Scream movie without Neve for the first time, and in her new Variety interview she said of the experience: ‘I missed working with her, but I’m going to support whatever she feels is right.’
