An ex-school superintendent is still being paid his $190,000 salary despite resigning in disgrace after smearing a teen driven to suicide by bullies as a drug abuser.
Former New Jersey Central Regional School District Triantafillos Parlapanides’ continued remuneration was revealed during a fraught public forum held in Bayville Thursday following the suicide of 14 year-old Adriana Kuch.
A concerned father, who did not give his name, asked school officials whether former Parlapanides was still being paid by the school.
‘I’ve been waiting this entire meeting to find that out, so is he still being paid?’
The board looked at attorney Christopher Dasti who said: ‘He is still being paid.’
‘Why?’ the concerned parent asked.
Former New Jersey Central Regional School District Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides, pictured last week, is still being paid his $190,000 salary despite resigning in disgrace for smearing a 14 year-old suicide victim as a drug abuser from a broken homeÂ
The revelation was made at a forum on Thursday night, pictured, although further details on why he’s being paid, and how much longer he’ll be paid for were not shared.
Adriana’s father said she was ’embarrassed’ about the attack video circulating online and was being harassed by the bullies on social media and in textsÂ
‘That’s a personal matter,’ Dasti responded without further addressing the question.
The response was met with a visceral roar from the crowd quickly dampened as Wilson slammed her gavel to call ‘order’ in the meeting.
Further details of why Parlapanides is still being paid remain unclear.Â
Nothing else was disclosed during the meeting, and nothing was said about how much longer he may continue to draw a paycheck.Â
Parlapanides resigned last week after emailing DailyMail.com about Kuch’s suicide to reveal the youngster had been offered counseling for drug abuse.
He also alleged Adriana’s dad Michael – an Army vet – had an affair when Adriana was aged seven that drove his partner – Adriana’s mother – to suicide.
Parlapanides went on to claim Michael had then moved that women into his home, and suggested the alleged upheaval may have been to blame for the anguish that drove Adriana to take her own life.
She was found dead in a closet at her home on February 3, and shared her torment at being bullied before taking her own life.
