Kids injured in horrific car and truck crash leaving several people trapped inside their vehicles

Several people, including children, have been injured in a horror crash between a car and a truck.

A rescue operation is ongoing after the Wednesday morning incident in Wongamine, Western Australia, left several people trapped in their vehicles.  

Two rescue helicopters were deployed to the major incident, which happened at around 6.20am local time along Goomalling-Toodyay Road, about 100km northeast of Perth.

Other emergency services are also at the crash scene. 

St John WA said the injured children would be flown to Perth Children’s Hospital.

At least five ambulances and six fire trucks attended the scene.

A spokeswoman for St John told the Perth Now news site they were treating ‘multiple people with serious injuries’.

Dozens of firefighters are working to free people trapped in the cars.

Road closures are in place for motorists travelling in the area, with Main Roads WA advising everyone to drive with ‘extreme caution’ when passing through the area near Irish Town Road.
