Sam Worthington reveals why he and wife Lara protect their children from their fame

Sam Worthington works hard to keep his children out of the spotlight. 

He and wife Lara Worthington (née Bingle) have three sons, but kept the pregnancies and even the children’s names secret for some time. 

The actor, 46, says that it’s important to him that his sons know a normal life full of sports and cartoons like any other kid, far from the trappings of fame.

‘Now I’ve got kids, it’s more a case of protecting my kids from [attention]’ he tells this week’s issue of Stellar. 

‘At the moment, my kids don’t care what their dad does. They don’t look at my job in any spectacular way’ he went on. 

‘They just want me to take them to soccer practice and hang out and watch Paw Patrol. You’re doing your best to have this balance, and that’s all you can do’.

Sam admits that he doesn’t always get it right, but tries his best. 

‘I’ve tried to handle [fame] carefully. It is hard; there’s no book to tell you how to do it. There’s no set of rules’ he told the magazine. 

‘I have made a few mistakes. And that’s okay. You grow from that’.

It comes after Lara revealed how she and her actor husband are a ‘team’. 

The model, 35, told The Daily Telegraph that the pair, who met in 2013, are enjoying getting older together.

‘As a family unit, we’re all very close. We’ve only got each other. Sam and I are a good team. We’re both Australians and we have the same values. We come at our children as a team and I think that’s really important,’ she told  Stellar Magazine

Lara went on to say that she and her family are ‘all very close’ and that she isn’t too strict a parent. 

‘They always make me feel so good, especially Sam. I don’t want that to ever go; I hope it doesn’t,’ she said.

‘But being able to be a mum and [to] work definitely stems from your partner. Sam and I are on the same page, so I feel like he’s ‘got me’ when I’m working and vice versa,’ she added. 

The beauty said that Sam is a ‘a strong father figure’ who supports her in her creative endeavors.

‘The fact my husband allows me to be creative and have dreams and aspirations – that’s really important,’ Lara said. 

The Worthington clan recently returned to the US after a long stint in Australia.
