The Spanish queen collected her chocolate tresses into a braided bun, accessorising the ensemble with chic drop earrings.

Looking typically stylish, she opted for a glamorous make-up look, with long lashes and a glossy lipstick.

Letizia held onto a golden clutch, sporting metallic stiletto heels as she grinned at the event. Elsewhere Felipe, 54, looked dapper in a pinstripe suit, worn with a wine red tie.

The pair arrived to enjoy a rendition of the Opera Aida, by Giuseppe Verdi. Today’s version of the classic – which is set in the Old Kingdom of Egypt – was produced by Hugo de Ana.

It comes following a recent trip the royal couple took to Germany, in a state visit that was delayed for a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
