Prince Harry and Meghan Markle today used their Netflix melodrama to wound Prince William and King Charles for refusing to bless the couple’s request for a ‘half in half out’ Megxit that would allow them to earn a fortune while doing royal duties and keeping all their titles.
The Duke of Sussex alleged his older brother, now heir to the throne, scared him in January 2020 while yelling at him in front of his father and grandmother when he tried to thrash out a deal to leave the UK.
Harry also accused Charles of telling untruths and Her Majesty of saying nothing at the now infamous ‘Sandringham Summit’ – before claiming the Palace did not seek his permission to put out a joint statement denying claims William ‘bullied’ them out of the Royal Family.
He said: ‘It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me and my father say things that just simply weren’t true. And my grandmother, you know, quietly sit there and take it all in’.
The Duke of Sussex claimed: ‘I went in with the same proposal that we’d already made publicly, but once I got there I was given five options – one being all in, no change, five being all out. I chose option three in the meeting – half in, half out. Have our own jobs but also work in support of the Queen. It became very clear very quickly that goal was not up for discussion or debate’.
Harry and Meghan said that the royals were upset they were ‘better’ at the job, accusing the palace of briefing against them
Meghan Markle hinted that the royals initially baulked at her because she was different to them and then became jealous of her popularity
Meghan said she asked Charles to walk her down the aisle after she told him she had lost a father
Harry claims Meghan ‘burst into tears’ in Canada when he recounted the row over the phone afterwards before saying that without his permission, his name was added to a joint statement with William ‘squashing’ claims the now Prince of Wales was bullying Harry out of The Firm.
The couple then said they were ‘blocked’ by royal figures from speaking to the Queen alone to discuss emigrating, with Harry claiming he was forced to write to his father to say that he and his wife were willing to relinquish their titles if the couple’s plan to move to Canada as working royals did not work out.
Meghan said: ‘I tried so hard and that’s the piece that’s so triggering, because you go ‘and it still wasn’t good enough… and you still don’t fit in’.
Harry then suggested that William had chosen the Royal Family’s future over his brother.
Harry said: ‘The saddest part of it was this wedge created between myself and my brother so that he’s now on the institution’s side. Part of that, I get. That’s his inheritance. So to some extent it’s already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and the continuation of this institution.’
Harry said going back for Philip’s funeral was ‘hard’ in 2021.
He added: ‘Especially spending time having chats with my brother and father who were just very much focused on the same misinterpretation of the whole situation.
‘None of us really wanted to talk about it at my grandfather’s funeral, but we did. And I have had to make peace with the fact that I am probably never going to get genuine accountability or a genuine apology.
‘My wife and I were focused on what’s coming next.’
Today the Sussexes’ Netflix docu-series reached a crescendo today as they launched more salvoes at the Royal Family over Megxit and claims William, Kate and Charles were jealous of their popularity and hated them ‘stealing the limelight’.
The couple said they were ‘better’ at royal duties than others and that stuck in the craw of Harry’s family, who didn’t Meghan being treated like a ‘royal rock star’ after they married in 2018.
Today final three episodes of the docu-series will particularly infuriate and upset William, who was accused of leaving his younger brother ‘terrified’ after allegedly yelling at him in front of the Queen and Charles during final Megxit talks at Sandringham in 2020.
The Duke of Sussex also drew more comparisons between his wife and his mother, claiming Princess Diana was forced out for the same reason because she outshone those who were ‘born to do this’, like his father and brother.
Episode 4 said that their first tour of Australia in October 2018, where Meghan’s pregnancy was revealed, went so well that ‘the palace were incredibly threatened by that’.
Harry said: ‘The issue is when someone who’s marrying in should be a supporting act is then stealing the limelight or is doing the job better than the person who was born to do this. That upsets people. It shifts the balance’.
Today it also emerged:
In the fifth episode of the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, the Duke of Sussex said it was ‘terrifying’ for his brother, now the Prince of Wales, to ‘scream and shout’ at him during a meeting on January 13 at Sandringham about plans for Harry and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, to move abroad.
Meghan said she was not protected by the royals when she suffered mental health problems. The docu-series then cut to her mother Doria Ragland, who said: ‘I remember her telling me that she wanted to take her own life’.

Meghan and Harry said their tours were so successful that it became a problem for their royals
Meghan was compared to a ‘rock star’ after she entered the family
Meghan said that the Royal Family refused to help her when she said she felt suicidal because it looked bad for them.
The final three parts of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s docuseries have gone live and take in their 2018 Windsor Castle wedding, the decision to quit royal duties and emigrate and their new life in their £11million Montecito mega-mansion.
Meghan then said the situation turned against them, blaming the media and his family. She said that on a walkabout in Liverpool one woman: ‘What you are doing to your father is not right’ – a nod to her estranged relationship with Thomas Markle.
The Duke of Sussex spoke about the moment when ‘the penny dropped’ for Meghan in the fourth episode of their Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan – and said the situation spiraled from there.
He said: ‘The first time that the penny dropped for her, M (Meghan) and I spent the night in a room at Buckingham Palace after an event where every member of the family, senior members of the family had been, including the Queen.
‘And on the front page of the Telegraph, Meghan. She was like ‘but it’s not my fault’ – and my mum felt the same way.’
They also claim there is a conspiracy against them between Buckingham Palace and the British press to ‘scapegoat’ them to ensure negative press about other royals would ‘go away’.
Meghan suggested that the royals had been revolted by her because she wasn’t like them, hinting that it was to do with her being mixed race.
In a bizarre and convoluted analogy, Meghan said one of the Queen’s aides compared her to a foreign organism. She said: ‘It is like a fish that is swimming perfectly. It is powerful, it is on the right current. Then one day this little organism comes in’.
But Meghan suggested the royal household immediately thought: ‘What is that? What is it doing here? It doesn’t look like us. It doesn’t move like us. We don’t like it. Get it off us’.
Royal officials will be watching the denouement of the series with interest, but King Charles III and Prince William are not expected to comment personally unless the claims are so incendiary they require a rebuttal.
Episode 4 begins with preparations for the royal wedding in May 2018.
She said: ‘Harry’s dad is very charming and I said to him like ‘I’ve lost my dad in this’, so him as my father-in-law was really important to me, so I asked him to walk me down the aisle and he said yes.’
Meghan later added: ‘H and I are really, really good at finding each other in the chaos.
‘When we find each other, reconnect, it’s like, ‘It’s you, it’s you’.
‘It’s not that the rest of it doesn’t matter, but the rest of it feels temporary’.
The final episode of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix series opens with a gleeful video selfie in which the Duke of Sussex says: ‘We are on the freedom flight’. Speaking about the Kingdom Choir gospel group which performed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, friend and tennis star Serena Williams said: ‘To have her culture represented at that wedding. Amazing, I loved it. I thought it was really courageous breaking boundaries but not trying to.’
The Duchess of Sussex then spoke of her first engagement with the Queen.
Meghan said: ‘I treated her as my husband’s grandma, and knowing that of course there has to be a completely different sense of propriety in public, when you’re sitting and having breakfast to just be able to talk.
‘When we got into the car in between engagements she had a blanket and she put it over my knees and we were sitting in this car with this blanket and I thought ‘I recognise and respect and see that you’re the Queen, but in this moment I’m so grateful that there is a grandmother figure because that feels like family’.
‘And because I was so so close with my grandmother,’ Meghan said, adding she had taken care of her grandmother ‘in her final years’.
The Duchess of Sussex added of her engagement with the Queen that it was ‘such a good day, we laughed’.
The Duchess of Sussex said she was being ‘fed to the wolves’ during the opening of episode 5 of the Harry & Meghan Netflix documentary.
Speaking about wanting her son Archie to have a big family in the way she had not, Meghan says: ‘I was just so excited that we were going to be able to create for him that thing that I had always wanted.
‘So I just did everything I could to make them proud and to really be a part of the family.’
‘And then the bubble burst,’ she says while the voices of news presenters can be heard saying: ‘Duchess difficult’ and ‘American’.
The Duke of Sussex then says: ‘It was already clear to the media that the Palace was not going to protect her. Once that happens then the flood gates open.’
Meghan then says: ‘I realised that I wasn’t just being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves.’
Meghan’s privacy lawyer Jenny Afia has alleged she had seen evidence of briefing from the Palace against the couple to suit other people’s agenda.
The duchess herself says: ‘You would just see it play out, like a story about someone in the family would pop up for a minute and they’d go ‘We’ve got to make that go away’.’
Her friend Lucy Fraser, Meghan’s PR guru, added: ‘Meg became this scapegoat for the Palace. And so they would feed stories on her whether they were true or not to avoid other less favourable stories being printed.’
Ms Afia said: ‘There was a real kind of war against Meghan and I’ve certainly seen evidence that there was negative briefing from the Palace against Harry and Meghan to suit other people’s agendas.’

In footage filmed in the days after the bombshell discussion with Winfrey in March last year, Harry is seen showing his wife his phone, before Meghan says: ‘Wow, H just got a text from his brother’
The three new episodes come after last week’s initial releases, which were largely focused on Harry and Meghan’s personal lives and their complaints about the media.
In the aftermath of the racism claims made in their interview with Oprah, Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of the Queen which said ‘some recollections may vary’ but insisted the couple remained much loved members of the family.
Meghan is seen in the episode reading out the statement whilst on the phone to their friend Tyler Perry, before Harry shows her his phone as it displays a message from his brother.
Meghan says: ‘What am I looking at? Wow. H just got a text from his brother.’
After Meghan ends the call with Perry, Harry puts his arms above his head and says: ‘I wish I knew what to do,’ before his wife comes and hugs him.
The episode also footage from days before, when William was asked by reporters if he had spoken to his brother following the Oprah interview, and he said: ‘I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will do.’
William also insisted: ‘We are very much not a racist family.’
Harry claims he told Charles couple ‘would be willing to give up their Sussex titles’ if Megxit ‘didn’t work out’
Prince Harry has claimed he and Meghan told King Charles they would give up their Royal titles if Megxit failed.
The fifth episode of the incendiary Netflix series – part of a £100million deal – featured their account of trying to leave the UK to live abroad.
They claimed they had tried to move to New Zealand in 2018 and then South Africa.
Harry said that by the time he spoke to Charles from Canada in Christmas 2019, the family knew they wanted to leave.
He adds: ‘My father said ‘Can you put it in writing?’ I said I would rather not because what had happened last time. He said he couldn’t do anything unless it was put in writing. I put it in emails.’
Over footage of Meghan sighing, Harry said he sent messages on January 1,2 and 3.
The Duke adds: ‘In one of those I said that if it didn’t work out we would be willing to relinquish our Sussex titles if need be. That was the plan.’

The documentary claims the Royal couple had repeatedly tried to move abroad since 2018
The couple spoke at length about their efforts to move abroad.
Harry then adds: ‘We thought it would be good to give ourselves some breathing space, but we were also really passionate about continuing our work throughout the Commonwealth supporting the Queen
Meghan then interrupts: ‘What I think is also important is that the pack of the royal rota is based there in London. If we are not there they can’t cover what we are doing.
‘You guys can be on the front pages of all the papers, exactly how you want it, and we can just go about doing the work, in the name of the Queen.’
Harry continues: ‘If you want us to go and do things on behalf of the Queen we will go and do it and we’ll pay for it ourselves. We don’t want to be dependent on any taxpayer funding.
‘Guess what, you get us and you get us for free. And this was years in the making.
‘In 2018 we had already talked about moving to New Zealand. That never transpired.

Home footage of the pair showed Harry jumping into the waters in Vancouver over Christmas
‘At the beginning of 2019 we discussed the whole concept of us moving to South Africa, supporting charities organisations.’
Harry reveals the Royals had agreed this could happen.
He told the documentary: ‘The palace signed off on us moving to South Africa. My father’s office knew about, my brother’s office new about it and my grandmother’s office knew about it.
‘No-one else knew it was very much an internal document. Then it was leaked to the Times newspaper. And then that whole plan was all scrapped because it now becomes a public debate.’
Meghan Markle ‘breaks down in tears’ when in her Canadian home
Meghan appeared to break down in tears when in her Canadian home with Prince Harry in an intimate picture shared in the couple’s explosive Netflix documentary.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, is photographed seemingly overwhelmed, surrounded by clothes and a suitcase, while thought to be in the house her family called home during her stay in Vancouver Island, Canada, in 2020.
‘So this was like a week before COVID, and we’d be stuck at this house, where everyone in the world knew where we were. Unprotected, no security,’ Harry is heard saying before the image of his wife is shown.
The final episode, released today, then shows actor, comedian and producer, Tyler Perry, who helped the couple as they left their lives in the UK.

Speaking in a later episode, Doria also revealed she knew ‘the stress they were under. It felt like they were running.’

The clip, which appears to have been filmed shortly after the Duke and Duchess quit the Royal Family in January 2020, opens with the couple sitting in a unknown friend’s New York apartment.
The voice of Prince Harry and Meghan’s guided meditation instructor is heard telling the couple to inhale and exhale as they sat on a sofa with their palms facing up at the ceiling.
She tells the couple: ‘Remember that what is transpiring in the media, what’s being created is an illusion.

Meghan places a hand on Harry’s thigh while her husband has his palms facing the ceiling
Meghan is visibly emotional as the instructor reminds them that they ‘both know who they are’
‘When you try to prove that you’re good and that you’re not the person they say you are, you’re taking the bait, you’re feeding the beast. It is an illusion.
‘Your work is not to prove your goodness. You know who you are, both of you.’
As their instructor speaks, Meghan is seen lovingly placing a hand on Prince Harry’s thigh.
After being told that their session has come to an end, the camera jumps back to Meghan – who has tears streaming down her face.
The mother-of-two then wipes away the tears as her visibly emotional husband leans his head back on the sofa.
Harry is then heard saying: ‘As sad as it is, in order for change to happen, sometimes a lot of pain has to come to the surface.
‘And in order for us to be able to move to the next chapter, you’ve got to finish the first chapter.’

The claims made in the trailer yesterday were quickly declared by royal experts as ‘nonsense’, while one commentator said the series was clearly a ‘form of revenge’.
