Prince Harry claims his brother ‘lunged’ at him and ‘grabbed his shirt twice’ in front of their father during a row over his interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Harry, in his bombshell memoir, details how Prince William was ‘shouting’ and ‘really steaming’ when he grasped at him during the dispute in front of then-Prince Charles following the funeral of their grandfather, Prince Philip.

William is said to have then used a secret code phrase about Princess Diana and embraced Harry in a hug, telling him: ‘I love you’ and ‘I just want you to be happy.’

Details of the row emerged just days after it was revealed that Harry claims in his book that a ‘piping hot’ William once injured him by pushing him onto a dog bowl on the kitchen floor of his cottage home in the grounds of Kensington Palace in 2019.

In his new autobiography ‘Spare’, the Duke of Sussex, 38, writes how his brother got heated during a half-hour walk near Frogmore Cottage following Philip’s funeral on April 17, 2021.

Harry, William and Charles were reportedly discussing the interview he and Meghan Markle gave to Oprah the month before.

Harry claims was trying to address bullying allegations made against Meghan, but his father and brother ‘weren’t listening.’

The California-based royal went on to allege that William was ‘really steaming’ and grasped at him as he tried to walk away.

‘I waved a hand, disgusted, but he lunged, grabbed my shirt. “Listen to me, Harold,”‘ Harry wrote in his book, according to The Sun

‘I pulled away, refused to meet his gaze. He forced me to look into his eyes. “Listen to me, Harold, listen! I love you, Harold! I want you to be happy.”‘

Harry claims he replied: ‘I love you too…but your stubbornness is extraordinary!’

The Duke reportedly tried to pull away, but William allegedly ‘grabbed him again’ and ‘twisted him’ so the pair could maintain eye contact.

William then evoked the brother’s so-called ‘secret code’ and swore on Princess Diana’s life that his intentions were genuine, Harry penned.

He writes that William said: ‘Harold, you must listen to me! I just want you to be happy, Harold. I swear I swear on Mummy’s life.’

Harry continued: ‘He stopped. I stopped. Pa stopped. He’d gone there.

‘He’d used the secret code, the universal password. Ever since we were boys those three words were to be used only in times of extreme crisis.’

The Duke claimed his brother ‘wasn’t quite ready to accept defeat’ and claimed to be ‘properly sick and ill’ over the tensions between the pair.

William allegedly reiterated: ‘I swear to you now on Mummy’s life that I just want you to be happy’.

Harry claims his ‘voice broke’ and he ‘softly’ told William: ‘I really don’t think you do.’

The elder brother then allegedly hugged Harry and said: ‘I love you’.

In an extraordinary excerpt from his upcoming autobiography Spare, Harry recalls what he describes as a physical attack by his sibling, now the Prince of Wales, which he claims left him with visible injuries

The latest allegation comes after just days after a leaked extract of the upcoming memoir revealed that Harry alleged William injured him by pushing him onto a dog bowl.

Harry alleged that he fought with his brother at Nottingham Cottage in early 2019 during a conversation about their relationship, Harry’s rows with the press and Meghan.

The Duke of Sussex claims that William then grabbed him by the collar, ripped his necklace then pushed him over in the kitchen, causing him to land on a dog bowl that shattered and injured his back.

Harry and Meghan lived in the London home – dubbed ‘Nott Cott’ – set within the grounds of Kensington Palace, from 2016 before they moved to Frogmore Cottage in the Windsor estate in April 2019.

In their explosive Netflix series Harry & Meghan, the couple described the home as ‘so small’, with clips from the documentary showing cobbled walkways and shrubs sprouting in the borders

Harry said in an interview for the series: ‘The whole thing is on a slight lean, [with] really low ceilings. So I don’t know who was there before but they must have been very short.’

Meghan laughed, revealing Harry would ‘hit his head constantly because he is so tall’.

Clips also showed Harry and Meghan doing DIY, the Duke varnishing a summer house and Meghan gardening.

The Duchess of Sussex said: ‘It was a time in our lives that people probably couldn’t believe what was going on behind the scenes.’

Another snap with a homely feels shows Harry eating chicken and cuddling up with Meghan’s dog Guy on a cream sofa.

Oprah was among the guests who came to visit the Sussexes at the cottage.

In a report of a passage from his highly anticipated autobiography, Spare, in The Guardian newspaper , Harry alleged the confrontation took place at his London home in early 2019 and had left him with a visible injury to his back after landing on a dog bowl after the Prince of Wales grabbed his brother by the collar, ripped his necklace then knocked him to the floor

Other excerpts of the memoir described how William allegedly dogged Harry in the months leading up to his wedding to actress Meghan Markle, and detailed how the now-Prince of Wales forced his younger brother to go along with the ‘bare-faced lie’ that he was the best man at William’s wedding in 2011.

The Duke wrote: ‘Willy didn’t want me giving a best man’s speech’, claiming he was made to act out the role of best man to spare the blushes of William’s two closest friends.

In one other sensational claim, Harry accused his father of worrying he’d be ‘overshadowed’ by Hollywood star Meghan and voicing concerns about having to support her financially.

Harry said Charles warned him his family was ‘not made of money’, and he could not afford to support anyone else. But Harry felt Charles’ concern was less rooted in economics and more to do with jealousy.

The Royal Family has thus far remained silent on Harry’s bombshell allegations and refused to respond to his incendiary anecdotes, but the Sunday Times today said a royal source claimed Harry has been omitted from the proceedings of King Charles’ upcoming Coronation in May.

‘Prince Harry has been written out of the script for the Coronation, with no official role in the service if he attends,’ the paper’s Royal Editor tweeted.

‘Breaking with tradition, Charles will scrap royal dukes kneeling and paying homage to the monarch. Only William will perform that role

‘As things stand, there is no role for Harry in the service,’ a royal source reportedly declared.’

Meanwhile, Harry appeared on ITV this evening to detail his memories of meeting mourners following the death of his mother.

The Duke said he and William were unable to show any emotion as they met the mourners.

‘Everyone thought and felt like they knew our mum, and the two closest people to her, the two most loved people by her, were unable to show any emotion in that moment,’ he told presenter Tom Bradby.

‘There were 50,000 bouquets of flowers to our mother and there we were shaking people’s hands, smiling,’ he recalled of the scene outside Kensington Palace following Diana’s death in 1997.

‘I’ve seen the videos, right, I looked back over it all. And the wet hands that we were shaking, we couldn’t understand why their hands were wet, but it was all the tears that they were wiping away.’

Harry also revealed that he cried once in the wake of his mother’s death – at her burial.

The Duke claimeed there was  ‘some guilt that I felt, and I think William felt as well, by walking around the outside of Kensington Palace.’

In a separate teaser for an interview with Good Morning America, Harry added that the ‘rift’ in his relationship with his brother would make his mother ‘sad.’

Spare revealed the brothers share a complex relationship, with Harry, 38, describing William, 40, as both his ‘beloved brother’ but also his ‘arch-nemisis’.

The Duke kept nothing back, laying bare his bitter frustrations over his role as the ‘spare’ to William, who is the heir to the throne.

Royal sources, meanwhile, have claimed the Royal Family are ‘completely exhausted’ with the ‘stream of misinformation’ from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Friends of William told the Sunday Times that the heir is ‘burning with anger’ but is also ‘anxious and sad’ over Harry’s comments in the book, which one friend described as ‘cowardly’.

‘[William] won’t retaliate, he never would, because he’s dignified and unbelievably loyal,’ one friend said.

‘It’s cruel, cowardly and so sad for William to keep taking the punches. He’s keeping quiet for the good of his family and the country.’

Another said: ‘He’s anxious and he’s sad – he’s concentrating on his wife and his children… He’s handling it so well on the outside, inside he’s burning,’ before one other associate chipped in: ‘He’s not going to roll over.

Analysts say harry’s comments are unlikely to help the frayed relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the Firm which sources say is already ‘hanging by a thread’.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: ‘The interview Harry and Meghan gave on Oprah [in 2021] did very considerable damage to the Royal Family, especially the allegations of racism and issues dealing with Meghan’s mental health.

‘Over the last month, counting the new trailers about his forthcoming interviews about his memoir, Harry and Meghan have appeared in a two-part six episode docuseries for Netflix and no less than seven trailers, two for the first docuseries, three for the second and now two more.

‘The first overshadowed the second day of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ trip to Boston which was outrageous. This resembles a publicity circus which looks rather desperate.

‘Harry might like to get his brother and his father but must surely know giving this catalogue of woes even more exposure is not the way to do so.
