Panic in Sydney as shoppers are evacuated from a major mall – with police swooping on the scene

A NSW Police operation is underway at a shopping centre post office in Bonnyrigg, in Sydney’s west.  

Two suspicious packages have been found at the post office, according to reports. 

Police have sealed off the entrance to the Bonnyrigg Plaza’s carpark and the public is being kept at a distance.

It has been reported the police operation was triggered by two suspicious packages being found at the post office

Fire and rescue crews are also attending. 

‘A police operation is underway at a shopping centre on Bonnyrigg Avenue, Bonnyrigg,’ a police tweet said.

‘The public is advised to avoid the area.

The management of Bonnyrigg Plaza also put out a statement on Facebook.

Shoppers have been evacuated and kept at a safe distance while the police operation is underway

‘Dear customers,’ it said.

‘Please be advised Bonnyrigg Plaza is temporarily closed due to a police operation.

‘We hope to re-open shortly and will update you as soon as possible.

‘Thanks for your understanding.’
