Pirates Of The Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently spoke to Deadline about how fond he is of Johnny Depp.
The 79-year-old established film producer, who worked with Depp, 59, on the Pirates franchise praised the actor for his artistry and other notable traits.
Speaking about the Edward Scissorhands star’s volatile litigation with ex Amber Heard on Behind the Lens with Pete Hammond, he said about the actor, ‘He’s just so good at what he does and actors recover from things like this.’
Jerry added, ‘He’s a good individual and he’s a caring individual. He’s somebody that you can rely on and he’s just terrific.’
Bruckheimer was prompted to discuss Depp when he was asked about the possibility of Johnny returning to the film series.
Kind words: Pirates Of The Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently spoke to Deadline about how fond he is of Johnny Depp – ‘He’s just terrific’
Jerry continued in the interview, ‘I think Johnny is an utter friend and an amazing artist and, again, you go through things in life you wish you hadn’t, but he’s still a talented artist.’
Bruckheimer previously told The Hollywood Reporter he would ‘love’ to have Johnny back in the fold.
When asked specifically if Disney would invite the star back to perform he replied: ‘You’d have to ask them. I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know.’
He added candidly, ‘I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.’
The producer also responded to Depp’s previous claims that the franchise would have to kill off his character Captain Jack Sparrow if he returned for a sixth and final film.
‘You can’t. We tried to kill him. It didn’t work,’ Bruckheimer said.
Johnny reached a $1 million settlement with his ex-wife Amber over his defamation suit against her last year.
Despite Jerry’s positive statements about the longtime entertainer, sources told DailyMail.com last November that Depp would not be returning for a sixth film in the Pirates series, following a rumor that his name had been spotted on a call sheet.

Depp was plagued in recent years by claims of abuse from his ex-wife.
He sued her for defamation in response to a Washington Post op-ed she wrote referencing a past abusive relationship, though he was not named in the article.
A jury later awarded Depp more than $10 million in his defamation suit, but, confusingly, also ruled in favor of Heard on one of her counterclaims, awarding her $2 million.
Speaking with The Sunday Times last May, Bruckheimer said there were no plans to bring Depp back to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Although Depp claimed in his trial that Heard’s op-ed hurt his career, reports of his alleged drug and alcohol predated it, and he reportedly became difficult to work with on film sets.
During his defamation trial, his former agent Tracey Jacobs testified that he used an earpiece on set to be fed his lines, though the actor claimed that he had noises and music piped in to help him get in the right mindset for a performance in a 2018 Vanity Fair profile.
Rumors began circulating that Depp would return to the Pirates series after a report claimed he would be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow despite being axed from the franchise by Disney in 2018.
However, sources confirm to DailyMail.com that the information was false.
Depp last played the swashbuckling character in 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, before producers decided they wanted to bring ‘new energy’ to the hugely popular film series.
