Photos taken from inside Twitter‘s San Francisco Headquarters reveal the bedrooms installed in the building that is currently under investigation by the city.

Chief Twit Elon Musk is currently under fire following allegations of makeshift motel rooms installed inside Twitter’s headquarters after it lost more than half of its workforce since his $44 billion takeover.

New photos from people working inside the building show several of the bedrooms set up for Twitter employees, NBC reports.

Some of the rooms appear outfitted with a large bed, sheets, furniture, plants, and dual TV screens, while others have a more bare setup with just a bed mattress, a corner desk and a single TV.

One of the rooms also appeared to have a large closet and changing mirror installed.

The rooms are reportedly labeled, with names such as Dollarbird and Goldeneye, and operate on a reservation status.

Musk appears to have confirmed the existence of the rooms as he condemned San Francisco’s mayor for opening an investigation – slamming her for not dealing with the drugs epidemic sweeping the city instead.

The cleaning crew protesting outside the Twitter building after their contracts were ended abruptly last Friday said they were shocked when the bedrooms were recently installed.

One of the former crew members told NBC that because the building was located in a commercial zoning area, it’s not allowed to have bedrooms.

Martin Cerda, one of the protestors, added that he and other former members of the cleaning crew were being watched by security agents when they cleaned the altered offices.

‘They were always behind you and you had to take out the trash, take everything off the bed and it was a lot of pressure having them there,’ said Cerca.

In a statement about the allegation, the city’s Department of Building Inspection said: ‘We are reaching out to building representatives so we can conduct a site inspection as part of our investigation. If we find that suite 900 no longer meets the building code, we’ll issue a notice of violation.’

Along with the pending investigations, many on social media slammed Musk for creating the makeshift bedrooms for his staffers.

Musk recently hit back at a tweet attacking him for ‘providing beds for tired employees’ at the San Francisco office.

The 44-year-old honed in on Mayor London Breed, who has been slammed for using taxpayer dollars to set up open-air drug markets as a way to tackle the drug crisis.

Hours later, the city announced it was investigating a complaint Twitter staffers were sleeping in makeshift bedrooms at its San Francisco office, as new owner Musk looks to instill a ‘hardcore’ culture at the social media giant.

Musk in his tweet appeared to confirm the claims – while also taking a shot at the city by citing a recent report about a baby’s near death this past week after ingesting fentanyl he found on the ground of a neighborhood playground.

‘So city of SF attacks companies providing beds for tired employees instead of making sure kids are safe from fentanyl,’ Musk wrote, shortly after the city’s Department of Building Inspection said it was investigating a complaint about his company’s rumored sleeping arrangements.

He went on to tag Breed specifically, asking the 48-year-old Democrat – who has failed to address rising crime and drug use in the city since assuming office in 2018 – ‘Where are your priorities!?’

A spokesman for the department confirmed that the city was probing claims concerning Musk’s so-called ‘Twitter 2.0,’ writing in an email Wednesday: ‘We need to make sure the building is being used as intended.’

The rep would then explain that ‘there are different building code requirements for residential buildings,’ laid out to make sure citizens ‘are using spaces safely.’

‘No one is above the law,’ the city staffer added.

Breed’s office did not immediately respond to a DailyMail.com request for comment regarding the investigation.

Officials, meanwhile, said Wednesday that they are currently planning ‘a site inspection’ of the Twitter offices in the city’s Civic Center neighborhood, ‘as part of [the] investigation.’

The reports of bedrooms at Twitter’s headquarters comes after a product manager at the company shared a photo of her sleeping on the floor of one of the office’s meeting rooms.

‘When your team is pushing round the clock to make deadlines sometimes you #SleepWhereYouWork,’ the worker wrote, attaching a photo of her wrapped in a sleeping bag.

People familiar with Musk takeover – which has been underway since October – have also aired similar claims about beds in largely unused conference rooms, following mass firings by the new company head since taking the reigns.

According to several reports, Musk in recent weeks has repurposed those conference rooms into makeshift bedrooms, equipped with furniture.

As these reports began to surface – and following the project manager’s posting of apparent evidence of the arrangements – a complaint sent on Twitter to San Francisco’s 311 service pointed to the existence of the sleeping spaces, calling them ‘modest bedrooms featuring unmade mattresses, drab curtains and giant conference-room telepresence monitors.’

The complaint is one example of general unrest seen at the company, after  Musk fired roughly 50 percent of its 7,500-strong workforce after taking control of the company, spurring walkouts as well as resignations from more than 1,200 others.

The gutting – done to cut out dead wood in the famously cushy company, according to Musk – has since left many of the company’s departments dwindling, insiders said, with the unused conference rooms being another side effect.

Musk, an outspoken libertarian who has chided progressive politicians for do-nothing policies in the past, has since sought to capitalize on the unused assets, as a business man would.

However, as the city pointed out to DailyMail.com, the company’s latest change at the hands of the mogul could see it come under fire from building officials, if they deem the space not up to code.

Musk on Tuesday seemed to take issue with the city’s stance, citing its current crime ridden state and Breed’s seemingly misaligned priorities, pointing to the recent case of the ten-month old son of a San Francisco tech boss who overdosed this past week after ingesting fentanyl he found while crawling in a local playground.

When paramedics arrived at the playground and saw there was nothing obstructing the child’s ability to breathe, they administered Narcan – a drug used to reverse the effects of a fentanyl overdose – which thankfully saved the child’s life.

Within seconds, according to an account of the incident in the San Francisco Chronicle, the baby began breathing and crying again.

Medical staff at the hospital later ran tests that confirmed baby Matkovic had fentanyl in his system. After the child was observed for more than six hours, the family was sent home close to midnight.

One nanny at the playground on Wednesday said that the incident, though horrifying, was hardly a surprise given the realities of life in San Francisco.

‘You literally have to watch their every move,’ she said. ‘Does it make me nervous? Yeah. But we found glass over there…syringes…I don’t let kids go into the bushes.’

‘Every playground has these problems,’ she said.

Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid many times more powerful than heroin, is often mixed with cocaine and other stimulants and consumed unknowingly by recreational drug users.

After the number of US deaths related to overdoses linked to synthetic opioids climbed to 70,000 last year, public health officials continue to sound the alarm over the extremely potent nature of fentanyl.

Following Musk’s online assertion, several other prominent Twitter users took to the platform to rebuff San Francisco for the investigation, after Forbes broke the news of the sleeping practices.

Among them was Caitlyn Jenner, who owns multiple businesses in California, who slammed the Golden State for being ‘the worst’ when it comes to labor laws.

‘Ridiculous! Nap / rest spaces are incredible benefits to employees. Also not uncommon! Major CA (and entitled snowflake inflicted) labor issue, yet again! Worst state for labor laws, ever!’ Jenner, 73, wrote.

‘Looks like we need cops to investigate more than just Elon,’ she wrote, before sarcastically adding: ‘Workers’ rights must not be violated.’

The post also saw her share a recent quote from Google’s Vice President of Real Estate and Workplace Services, David Radcliffe, where the exec said that no workplace is complete without a ‘nap pod.’

Google – which has touted its use of the sleeping pods for more than a decade – is also based in the Bay Area, in Mountain View, which is just south of Redwood City. Unlike Twitter, no such investigation has been leveled against the search giant.
