A driver associated with the sovereign citizen movement has left motorists stunned after using an illegal fake number plate before the vehicle was impounded.

A passerby snapped a photo of the Toyota Hilux in Perth calling out several odd features on it before it was impounded for having fake numberplates.

‘Found my first cooker today! Was a pleasure getting it impounded for fake plates,’ they wrote.

A so called ‘Commonwealth Custodian’ has left motorists stunned after using a fake number plate and bizarre design on the back of their car

On the fake numberplate, ‘private’ is written in white letters across the black backdrop with the word bordered by the phrase, ‘Commonwealth of Australia’.

There also appears to be a spelling error on the number plates with ‘non-commercial’ incorrectly spelled as ‘non-commerial’.

The back of the vehicle is adorned with a coat of arms and directs people to the Commonwealth Custodian’s website, an alt-right group that appears to share similar views to the sovereign citizen’s movement.

The group refuses to recognise the Australian government, shares untrue information about Covid-19, and falsely claims that political parties are ‘franchises’ of the United Nations.

A website from a member states: ‘Dear Australian Government, please be informed that we know who you are and what you are doing.

‘You are nothing more than a private political corporation. You have no authority over We the People of the Commonwealth.

‘PS: We would appreciate it if you would vacate the premises and hand back our country NOW!’

Social media users ripped into the appearance of the vehicle and slammed the owner of the car.

‘Not willing to pay tax but willing to drive on taxpayer funded roads,’ one joked.

Another added: ‘I live in the US and I’ve seen more crazy alt-right stuff in Perth than I have in the state I live in! It’s mind boggling.’
