The plane circled around Rottnest Island and off the coast of Perth to burn off fuel and wait for clearance to land.

Due to the nature of the technical issue, the pilots could only use their brakes upon landing.

Airport fire crews were on the scene in the off chance the plane caught on fire.

The Boeing 737 landed back at the airport without issue at around 3:05pm.

Engineers are now looking at the aircraft, which will remain grounded.
