A prominent New York City transgender and HIV activist was arrested and charged for allegedly soliciting a minor on Grindr and asking him for oral sex.
Lailani Muniz, 39, was taken into custody after corresponding with a man working with the NY Creeps Spotlight nonprofit, who posed as a 14-year-old boy named Josh on the LGBTQ dating app, Fox reports.
Muniz, who identifies as female and is HIV positive, works as the Chief Operations Officer for the New York Transgender Bodybuilding Federation and was honored earlier this year at Bronx Borough Hall during Pride Month.
NY Creeps Spotlight, which works to expose people who target children, posted chats Muniz allegedly had with the disguised man, who only identified himself as FM.
The messages show Muniz wanted to have sex with the minor, offering weed and ecstasy to make him ‘feel horny’, and asked him for oral sex even after finding out he was underaged.
FM got Muniz to agree to meet up with him in a video posted on YouTube last Friday, where the pedophile hunter confronted Muniz and called the police to arrest her.
According to the criminal complaint, Muniz told the officers arresting her: ‘We did have a conversation before. It got sexual, it got racy, then we stopped talking for a while.
‘We started talking again and I agreed to go and meet him. He told me to bring condoms.’

The log from Grindr, a popular LGBTQ dating app, shows that Muniz wanted to have oral sex
According to the chat logs posted by NY Creeps Spotlight, Muniz appeared undeterred to meet up with the minor after FM posted that he was a 14-year-old boy.
‘Yea I dont mind,’ Muniz allegedly wrote in response.
The messages also show she invited him to join her and others to do drugs in a jacuzzi.
‘Its fun, we’ll be naked and it’s a nice size room. We can all get in the jacuzzi,’ Muniz allegedly wrote.
‘I never done that I’m down,’ FM wrote back.
‘We’ll have fun and we’ll have weed and maybe some E pills,’ Muniz allegedly replied, referencing ecstasy, promising it would make the minor feel ‘great and horny.’
The chat log shows that Muniz agreed to meet up with ‘Josh’ when his mother was away, but the accused pedophile seemed to harbor some reservations.
‘I can’t front, I am nervous,’ Muniz allegedly wrote. ‘I watch too much TV [because] I know you’re young, it reminds me of that show To Catch a Predator where they set people up attracted to minors.’
But that’s just what happened as Muniz found herself meeting with FM, who confronted her about their chat log as he filmed their conversation.
‘So what are you doing meeting up with a minor,’ FM asks.
When Muniz stumbles to answer, claiming she’s not meeting with a minor, the nonprofit worker shoots back.
‘I’ve got the chat logs. You’ve been talking to me the whole time.’
