Nicole Kidman opens up her private family photo album after mother’s birthday

Nicole Kidman has paid tribute to her mother Janelle by sharing a collage of photos from her recent 82nd birthday party.

The Australian actress, 55, posted a bunch of Polaroid snaps on Instagram on Wednesday as she celebrated the Kidman matriarch.

‘Happy birthday, mumma. You are so loved by all of us,’ Nicole wrote.

She posted the heartfelt message after sending birthday wishes to her mother from the Oscars red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Nicole and her husband Keith Urban were being interviewed by Sonia Kruger on The Morning Show when she revealed it was Janelle’s special day.

‘It’s my mum’s birthday today. Happy Birthday, mama. We love you soo much,’ Nicole said to the camera. 

Keith chimed in: ‘Happy Birthday, JJ.’

‘We did a party for her when we were back in Sydney. She is the heartbeat of our family, so we love you, mama,’ added Nicole.

The Moulin Rouge! star revealed in January last year her mother had been unwell.

Nicole spoke briefly about her mum’s health issues in an interview with the Fresh Air podcast.

She said they’d managed to visit the Art Gallery of New South Wales after hours, where they took in the Matisse: Life & Spirit exhibition, describing it as ‘soothing balm’.

‘We’re down here primarily to take care of my mother and to have her surrounded by her grandchildren,’ she said.

Later in the interview, Nicole revealed she felt privileged to be able to see the world through her mother’s eyes, describing it as ‘so beneficial’.

‘There’s many different 80-year-old perspectives, but it’s her perspective, and her particular path, but I’m drinking it in and learning,’ she added.
