Nicola Bulley news: Fury at TikTok ghouls who filmed moment body was discovered

TikTok ghouls – who at one point were banned from the Nicola Bulley search area – recorded sickening footage of something being retrieved from the riverside yesterday.

One appalling film has been viewed 1.9million time and are among 19 clips posted on the social media site by the same person.

The user has hidden their identity and uses a picture of Ms Bulley’s partner Paul Ansell as their profile image.

Incredibly they have continued posting this morning, despite her family awaiting news on identification of the body.

Users of the site were quick to condemn the poster’s actions, describing them as disrespectful.

One said: ‘Sorry to the family hope they don’t see this RIP

Ms Bulley’s disappearance sparked a slew of conspiracy theories from TikTok online sleuths.

Another chimed in ‘I don’t know what this is!!! but it’s very disrespectful!!!!’

While a further added: ‘Can’t believe you would film that.’

It was the latest indignity heaped on Ms Bulley by the circus of conspiracy theorists and armchair detectives who massed in St Michael’s on Wyre when she vanished last month.

Social media influencer Dan Duffy was fined on February 16 after joining the search.

He had posted a video of himself being arrested by Lancashire Police officers on his YouTube channel, called Exploring with Danny.

The force said the 36-year-old was handed a fixed penalty notice under section 4 of the Public Order Act – fear or provocation of violence.

Since Ms Bulley went missing, Duffy has posted a number of videos on social media site TikTok, as well as three others on his YouTube channel.

In the arrest video, he said: ‘Hi guys, I’m being arrested on a public order offence. They’ve had an allegation.

‘As you all know I was in search to find the missing woman Nicola but this is what this country’s turning into. No freedom of speech.’

The clip later displays the message: ’20 hours in the police station arrested on a public order offence for searching for missing woman Nicola Bulley.’

Lancashire Police had bemoaned social media sleuths at their disastrous press conference last week.

The force had complained they had distracted them, before revealing Ms Bulley had ‘vulnerabilities’, which then sparked further speculation.

That day ended with the police releasing extraordinary details about her suffering alcohol issues and the menopause. 

Det Supt Smith said at the time the investigation to find Ms Bulley had been hampered by a ‘false information, accusations and rumours’ by among others, amateur sleuths and TikTokers conducting their own searches.

She said: ‘Yes, it has significantly distracted the investigation.

‘In 29 years’ police service I’ve never seen anything like it.

‘Some of it has been quite shocking and really hurtful to the family.

‘Obviously, we can’t disregard anything and we’ve reviewed everything that’s come in but of course it has distracted us significantly.

‘But as long as we are prioritising, which we do constantly on the information that’s coming in, that will not distract us from the priority actions that we’ve been completing.’
