Naomi Ackie has admitted that her thirties have given her more ‘confidence’ as she posed up a storm for a sensational magazine cover shoot.

The actress, who turned 30 last month, described her milestone birthday as ‘actually amazing’ as she candidly admitted she doesn’t ‘give a s**t’ anymore.

Appearing as ELLE UK’s digital cover star, Naomi said reaching her thirties has given her more ‘confidence’ and ‘stability’ in herself.

She told the publication: ‘My thirties are actually amazing, when people would tell me, “Nay, when you turn 30 you will stop giving a s**t, “I was like, “Sure…” But turning 30 and doing Whitney, I actually don’t give a s**t. 

‘I spent so many years thinking: if only my thighs were thinner, if only my arms wouldn’t wobble as much, if only my cheekbones, or my teeth. 

‘Now I’m thinking there’s so much more to me than what I look like or whether I fit in. My thirties are giving me a little bit more confidence and stability in myself.’ 

Naomi said she also reached a point where she felt she wanted to do something ‘scary’ in her career, which led to her putting herself out of her ‘comfort’ zone and taking on leading roles.

Naomi, who was a supporting actress in The End of the F***ing World, has taken on the lead part in the upcoming fully-authorised Whitney Houston biopic – I Wanna Dance with Somebody.

Her comments came as she posed up a storm in an array of sensational photographs for an Elle UK photoshoot.

In the cover shot, Naomi put on a glamorous display in a strapless black gown with a dramatic layered hemline.

She accessorised her elegant ensemble with an array of gold rings and hoop earrings, adding a pop of colour with a vibrant red manicure.

The accentuated her striking features with a light dusting of make-up as she fixed the camera with a sultry stare.

Another picture saw Naomi put on an eye-catching display in a faux-fur red jacket as she knelt on the floor.

She also posed in a fluffy white jacket in one final photograph, accessorising with an array of glitzy silver jewels.

Her latest interview comes after the emotional new trailer for I Wanna Dance With Somebody was released last month.

The trailer sees Naomi channel the late Whitney Houston as she goes from New Jersey choir girl to one of the best-selling and most awarded recording artists of all time.

One scene Whitney battling with a record label executive who criticised her, saying, ‘a common criticism of you, your music isn’t black enough’.

To which she defiantly responded: ‘That’s just bull, and it makes me angry, actually. It’s hateful and un-informed.’

Throughout the trailer, the young star’s rise to fame is depicted with shots of Whitney walking around her large mansion and groomed gardens.

The determined young star is heard saying: ‘I sing what I want to sing, be how I want to be, and reach as big an audience as I can.’

The conflict between Whitney and her father about finances is also depicted as she stands up to her dad, saying: ‘Daddy, my money. I trusted you; you were meant to look out for me.’

The film is set to take audiences on an inspirational and emotional journey through the star’s trailblazing life and career, with a soundtrack of the icon’s most beloved hits.

With sales of over 200 million records worldwide, Whitney is one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, and the film expected to celebrate the icon’s life is slated for release on December 21.

Whitney, regarded as the most-awarded female singer in history, tragically died of a drug overdose and drowning at age 48 in 2012. This February marked the tenth anniversary of her tragic death at age 48.

The Where Do Broken Hearts Go star was found dead in a bathtub inside a Beverly Hilton hotel room on February 11, 2012.
