Multiple pedestrians are hit at random by U-Haul truck in NYC and a cyclist is dragged before driver is arrested after 30 minute chase

  • Multiple people including one police officer were struck by the vehicle 
  • The incident unfolded shortly after 11.30am in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn 
  • The driver is believed to be in custody but no other details have emerged  

Multiple people have been mowed down on a Bay Ridge sidewalk by a U-Haul truck. 

It is unclear how seriously any of the victims are hurt. 

The NYPD is yet to confirm many of the details but it’s believed the driver of the U-Haul is in custody. 

He is currently being held at the 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park, a nearby area of Brooklyn.

It is unclear how seriously any of the victims are hurt. The NYPD is yet to confirm many of the details but it’s believed the driver of the U-Haul is in custody

The incident coincides with the first day of the death penalty trial phase of Sayfullo Saipov, who killed eight people in a rented Home Depot truck on the West Side Highway in 2017. 

Police are yet to confirm a connection between Saipov’s case and today’s incident. 

One police officer was injured in Bay Ridge today but the extent of their injuries is not known.
