MTG sparks outrage by saying if she and Steve Bannon had ‘organized’ January 6th ‘we would have won’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene delivered a rousing speech to a supportive audience Saturday evening in New York City at a Young Republican gala.

Among other topics, Greene told the cheering crowd that if she and Steve Bannon had been the ones to organize the January 6 Capitol breach, ‘we would have won.’

‘I want to tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won.

‘Not to mention, we would’ve been armed,’ she said.

Greene, dressed in a navy one-shouldered gown adorned with jewels, was one of several high-profile MAGA Republicans to attend the gala.

Also on the invite list were Donald Trump Jr., Steve Bannon, Newsmax personality Steve Cortes, conservative commentator Jack Posobiec and Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe.

Though Greene was apparently received with love and adoration at the gala event, online users were less appreciative of the controversial lawmaker’s remarks.

‘I can’t wait to see you in prison,’ wrote one non-fan on Twitter.

One account that purports to be linked to a ‘mental, physical, spiritual’ and ‘financial’ health podcast, criticized Greene’s appearance. ‘I’ve seen men look better in an evening gown,’ wrote the user.

In response to her comments about Bannon and January 6, one user wrote, ‘Ummm that’s sedition…’

‘At least you fascists are just saying it out loud now and letting the rest of us know exactly what you are,’ wrote another.

Others used the thought as a moment to publicly doubt Greene’s intellect. ‘She couldn’t orchestrate a can opener,’ wrote Tracy Forner.

Yet another account, this one titled GOP Implosion Monitor, was evidently bemused by the idea that there might be any Republicans at all in deep-blue New York City.

‘The idea of young Republicans in NYC is hilarious,’ he wrote.

‘What has a political party become, when members go or cloud with ‘I would like to try terrorism” asked another online observer.

Greene, who was being honored with an award at the reception, also touched on current Republican efforts in Congress, which will include a laundry list of agenda-driven items when the GOP retakes control of the lower chamber on January 3.

‘After the past two years of suffering under Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats and voting no solidly to Joe Biden and the Democrats communist agenda, I’m going to tell you I am fired up about 222 in the House,’ she said.

The Georgia congresswoman was stripped of her committee assignments shortly after arriving in Washington, DC. She has backed Republican Kevin McCarthy to become the next Speaker of the House and is likely looking forward to a term unencumbered by being removed from the assignment.

She added, however, that getting all House Republicans to vote together is a challenge unto itself – alluding to the ongoing question of internal party discipline, particularly as the 2024 presidential fields begin to take shape.

Greene remains loyally supportive of former President Donald Trump, who announced his reelection bid last month. Despite calls from a significant faction of the GOP to look elsewhere for their 2024 nominee, Greene encouraged fellow Republicans to back Trump.

Also during her address, Greene bragged about her continued rejection of sending US dollars to Ukraine as it continues to fight Russia in a war that started nearly 10 months ago.

The tens of billions of US taxpayer dollars that have been sent to Ukraine, she suggested, would have been better used combating the US’s ongoing issues with Mexican drug cartels that have established their operations along the US-Mexico border.
