DailyMial.com has contacted the Toledo Police Department for comment.

Washington Local Schools District said that no one in the crowd was injured and everyone had been screened prior to entering Whitmer Memorial Stadium.

Kapszukiewicz said ‘a total of 16 law enforcement professionals were working the game’ off-duty and were able to keep everyone safe.

‘There is still a lot we don’t know about the events of last night, but we do know this — what happened in our City was unacceptable. Everyone should be able to enjoy a Friday night football game without having to fear for their safety,’ he said in a statement.

The game was cancelled with Central Catholic winning 45-15 and is not going to be rescheduled. The junior varsity and freshmen Saturday games have also been cancelled, according to Central Catholic Principal Kevin Parkins.

Parkins also announced that the student body would gather Tuesday morning after the long weekend to ‘talk to them, support them, and also pray.’

He also pled with others to ‘value life’ on Friday.

‘If we are careless with lives – there’s nothing more special – we have to continue to fight each and every day that our world, our country, our state, and our community in Northwest Ohio knows how valuable life is.

The police investigation is ongoing.
