- He ordered the group to leave and demanded the photographer delete images
- Footage of the encounter has circulated online with many praising Mr Bakhos
A model dressed as a ‘sexy nun’ and her photographer were awkwardly kicked out of a Sydney cathedral after a churchgoer caught them in the middle of a photoshoot.
Charlie Bakhos had been at St Mary’s Cathedral in the city’s CBD on Monday when he spotted a woman scantily clad in lingerie, knee-high white socks, high heels and a nun’s habit.
Three others were with the woman and were believed to have been snapping photos of her when Mr Bakhos started filming and ordered them to leave the church immediately.
‘I don’t know who gave you permission to be taking photos here at the cathedral like that,’ he is heard saying in the footage.
‘Get your stuff and get out of here.’

The model is seen turning away from the camera while those coordinating the shoot then scramble awkwardly to pick up their equipment.
Mr Bakhos then demanded the photographer delete the images from his camera.
‘There’s a sign out the front that says no photos taken here without permission,’ he says to the group.
The photographer then showed himself deleting the photos from his camera before Mr Bakhos left.
The footage has circulated on Twitter with many heaping praise on Mr Bakhos for standing up to the group, with many saying sacred places ‘needed to be respected’.
Mr Bakhos ordered the photographer to delete the images off his camera while the group scrambled to pack up their equipment
‘Extremely disrespectful,’ one person commented.
‘Why are people always sexualising nuns?’ another wrote.
‘Absolutely disgusting and shameful,’ added a third.
A spokesperson for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney said the cathedral should be respected, regardless of an individual’s faith.
‘St Mary’s Cathedral is a sacred space for the Catholic Church in Australia and many others who come to seek peace and solace within its walls. The Cathedral has been visited by three popes, three Catholic saints, and is a place of welcome for all, especially the poor, disadvantaged and disenfranchised,’ the spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
‘The unfortunate reality, however, is that as Australia’s Mother Church, it is regularly a magnet for malicious acts of vandalism, property damage and offensive behaviour.
‘We accept that not everyone shares our beliefs, but all people of religious faith should be able to expect that their places of worship will be respected, or at least not be treated with mockery and subjected to acts of indecency.
‘Respect for those who might be different to you should be a value that unites all Australians.’
