Father-of-three Mike Tindall had his hands full as he took his children to cheer on Zara at the Burnham Market International Horse Trials today.

Eight-year-old daughter Mia was on typically boisterous form tore across the grass, followed by her little sister Lena, three. The girls were in fits of giggles as they piled on top of their dad on the grass and went head-to-head on inflatable bumper cars.

But it was their baby brother Lucas who stole the show, smiling broadly as he was scooped up in his father’s arm for a cuddle.

Ex-England rugby ace Mike, 43, looked every inch the proud father as he gazed lovingly at Lucas, who celebrated his first birthday last month.

The family were on hand to support Zara, 40, an accomplished equestrian with decades of experience on the British circuit.

The three-day Burnham Market International Horse Trials, in north Norfolk, will see riders compete in cross country, dressage and show jumping.

The Tindalls appeared in excellent spirits as they arrived for the event, with Mia patiently helping her dad push the pushchair before running ahead into the field.

Mike showed off his parent multi-tasking skills and pushed Lucas with one hand while carrying a collection of jumpers and bags in the other.

The family settled on a patch of grass in the sunshine where Mia and Lena proceeded to use their father like a personal climbing frame, eventually pushing him onto the ground for a cuddle.

At one point Mia climbed onto his shoulders to get a better view of the action.

Not wanting to miss out, little Lucas was trying to crawl and stand up next to his father and sisters and smiled broadly when Mike pulled him onto his lap.

Mia looked ready for a day in the spring sunshine in her jeans, black trainers and seashell top.

Meanwhile Lena, who turns four this summer, wore a grey frilly long-sleeved top, jeans and trainers.

Ever practical, Mike wore a zip-up jacket, jeans and boots which will allow him to run after his fun-loving girls if he needs to.

The outing gives royal fans their best view yet of baby Lucas, who was born in March last year, just weeks before the death of his great-grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh.

At one point proud big sister Mia hung back to help her father push Lucas in the pram, suggesting she is embracing her role as the eldest of the Tindall brood.

The outing comes weeks after Mia stole the show at Prince Philip’s service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.

The eight-year-old joined her cousins Savannah and Isla Phillips, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte, as the royals gathered to pay tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh.

Mia, Lena and Lucas have a close relationship with Savannah and Isla, the daughters of Peter and Autumn Phillips. Both families live at Princess Anne’s Gloucestershire estate of Gatcombe Park and enjoy an outdoorsy childhood.
