- Cyclist thrown from bike on Melbourne’s Princess Highway
- He was rushed to hospital for a check-up
- Driver issued with a fine following the collision
Dashcam footage has captured the horror moment a cyclist was thrown from his bike after a BMW cut a lane and smashed into him.
The 20-year-old cyclist was riding along the Princess Highway in Melbourne‘s south in December last year when a silver BMW SUV attempted to turn left onto Springvale Road and hit him.
The footage, taken on December 18, 2022 but published on Monday, was from the dashcam of the car directly behind the cyclist and captured the exact moment the cyclist was sent flying.
The BMW was travelling in the second from the left lane when they attempted to dramatically cut ahead of traffic and turn left from a forward-only lane.
The cyclist’s shoe was seen flying along with the bike after he was hit by the tail end of the vehicle.

The BMW driver continued heading down Springvale Road, towards the city, but eventually stopped to go back and check on the downed rider left sprawled in the middle of the busy intersection.
The dashcam driver immediately pulled over to check on the rider, who was seen trying to sit up and regain his bearings in the footage published by Dashcam Owners Australia.
Victoria Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia the BMW driver, a 66-year-old woman from Glen Huntly, was investigated by police and fined for failing to give way.
The male cyclist, a Croydon South man, was taken to hospital for observation.
