Melanie C has admitted getting back on stage with Victoria Beckham is her ‘ultimate dream’ – as fashion designer Posh wished her former Spice Girls bandmates a Happy New Year on Saturday.

The Spice Girls reformed without Posh for a stadium tour three years ago and while the group – which also includes Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner – had an ‘incredible time’, they’d love to go on tour again as a quintet.

Melanie, 48, said: ‘We were so beautifully received, we had the most incredible time.

Living in hope: Melanie C, 48, has admitted getting back on stage with Victoria Beckham is her ‘ultimate dream’

‘It was the moment we realised the impact we had had on a generation of people. We are keen to get back on stage, it’s something we continue to discuss. It’s just navigating everybody’s life, work, families.’

Asked if another reunion would include Victoria, she added to The Times’ Saturday Review: ‘That would be the ultimate dream. The door is always open for Victoria, we would love to see her back. We keep our fingers crossed.’

And the Northern Star hitmaker admitted the group would particularly love to perform at the world-famous Glastonbury festival.

She said: ‘One day a Spice Girls performance there would be a great thing. We would love to grace that stage.’

It came as Victoria took to Instagram on Saturday to send her best wishes to her former bandmates ahead of the New Year.

Meanwhile, Melanie admitted the sexism the Spice Girls faced in the early days of their career ‘galvanised’ them and they are ‘very proud’ of their Girl Power message.

She said they knew they had a point to prove and ‘went out naively as young women’ not knowing what they would be up against.

The pop star credited the platform the Spice Girls gave the members for helping them change things and open doors for other women.

She added that they were part of a ‘bigger movement’ but the group made feminism ‘more palatable to a younger audience’.

It comes after the Spice Girls were left red-faced after an unreleased song with an X-rated title was leaked almost 30 years after it was recorded.

The song, called C. U. Next Tuesday, was recorded for their debut album Spice and a demo of it was leaked to the internet this week in an unexplained security breach.

All four members of the band and Victoria are said to be embarrassed by the leak due to the title being a euphemism for a four letter expletive.

Last year, the group released Spice 25 to celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary, featuring unreleased demos and remixes, however C. U. Next Tuesday didn’t make the cut.

Mel C has previously been vocal about her dislike for the track, saying: ‘C.U. Next Tuesday was never used because it’s a pile of s**t. It would be a big rip-off if Virgin put it on a greatest hits album now.’

A source told The Sun: ‘The Spice Girls are all at a very different place in their lives now than they were when this song was first written as a tongue-in-cheek track in the Nineties.

‘It is obviously a bit embarrassing given the cringeworthy title, as they wouldn’t use the c-word in their own lives. It is a bit of a mystery how on earth it has got out but they aren’t going to dwell on it.’

The insider added that the girls are hoping the song will ultimately be forgotten.

They said: ‘The group have other projects they are looking forward to in 2023 so are focusing on them and hoping this song — which they were never particularly fond of — is forgotten.’

MailOnline contacted representatives of the Spice Girls for comment.
