Once upon a time, ‘soccer moms’ were a courted group of swing voters.
Do you remember? Of course, back then, they weren’t dismissed as borderline racists or rabid partisans.
Why would they be? They didn’t dabble in the fringes of politics. Their voting habits were easy to understand. They wanted what was best for their families.
Or put another way, they weren’t pilloried or patronized as ‘Karens’.
But then all of a sudden, women voters went from a respected voting bloc to a group to be despised.
What is a ‘Karen’, anyway? Generally, it’s a derogatory term for a particular type of white woman.
The angry woman who calls the manager in the store over a slight inconvenience. The frantic woman filmed having a public meltdown. And often, their freak-outs are directed at people of color.
No one condones such behavior.
Repulsively, white women have become a legitimate target of left-wing ridicule. And we know why
But can you imagine any other racial group in America being given a label in 2022?
Repulsively, white women have become a legitimate target of left-wing ridicule. And we know why.
We didn’t vote as we were told.
A New York Times Magazine article last year made it very clear. If you’re a white woman you’re probably a ‘Karen.’
‘Widen the lens and any white woman — every white woman — could be a Karen, if she’s perceived as taking for granted the advantages bestowed by her skin color and ignoring the labor and suffering of others,’ it read.
Looking back on that now, it’s not difficult to see how we got here from there.
The mystery of Hillary Clinton’s loss among white women perplexed political analysts.
Women voted for a different version for America. It was a tough dose of reality for Democrats for to swallow, and they didn’t
How could women vote for Donald Trump? He’s a monster, they wailed!
But the answer to their question was very simple. All issues are women’s issues.
Simply because we are born with female anatomy does not mean we don’t care about the economy, education, foreign policy, and the wellbeing of our country.
I do not vote on one single issue. Apparently, neither do millions of other women.
Women voted for a different version for America. It was a tough dose of reality for Democrats for to swallow, and they didn’t.
Instead of changing course and actually speaking directly to suburban white women, they doubled down on the insults.
Today, if you care about the economy, rising crime and your children’s education, as opposed to the January 6th riot, climate change and transgenderism – you are vilified.
Simply because we are born with female anatomy does not mean we don’t care about the economy, education, foreign policy, and the wellbeing of our country
Want to feel secure in your home? That’s just the privilege talking.
And that’s not just offensive. It’s wildly removed from anything resembling the real world.
I have close friends who have experienced a huge negative shift in their lifestyles since President Biden took office.
Despite the fact that they and their husbands work, the cruel realities of how much less you can buy at the grocery store and the gas station in 2022 as opposed to 2020 has hit them very hard.
These women are not stupid. They’re not okay condemning their gender to some dystopian hellscape from The Handmaid’s Tale.
They are scared and desperate. They are desperate for things to change. And in many instances, they feel like the Democrats simply aren’t listening to them.
We are not soccer moms. We are not Karens. We are women – and today, hear us roar
These are the real struggles of ordinary American women. They don’t have the luxury to make the priorities off the one per cent, their priorities.
They quite literally can’t afford to focus on anything other than putting food on the table, gas in the car and their children through school.
They are not going to be lectured or shamed. But they will quietly vote.
In recent days and weeks, as polling shows a remarkable swing of suburban white women toward the Republican party, we’ve heard women described as ‘roaches’ and ‘Nazis’ for valuing their best judgement over the orders of Democrats and the liberal media.
It’s the revenge of the ‘Karens’ – and can you really blame them?
Liberals should not be surprised that insulting a voter is not the best closing message.
Just this weekend, longtime Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen went on CNN to deliver the bad news.
Democrats are going to have a very bad night.
‘When voters tell you over and over and over again that they care mostly about the economy, listen to them! Stop talking about democracy being at stake!
‘Democracy is at stake because people are fighting so much about what elections mean.
‘Voters have told us what they wanted to hear. I don’t think Democrats have delivered this cycle,’ she said.
Amen.
The problem for Democrats, as Hilary Rosen pointed out, is that this cake is baked.
A huge percentage of ‘Soccer mom/Karens’ will be pulling the lever for the GOP.
Shaming women for all the evils in society, and now for caring about their families, is the most toxic and destructive political strategy in modern history.
We are not soccer moms.
We are not Karens.
We are women – and today, hear us roar.
