Mark Wright has admitted his long distance relationship with wife Michelle Keegan is ‘hard’ after she jetted off to Australia for a dream role.

The television presenter, 35, appeared on Thursday’s installment of Loose Woman where he joined Ruth Langsford, Frankie Bridge and Steven Bartlett.

He told ITV viewers that he was recently given some advice from Piers Morgan that he should see his partner every three weeks, no matter the distance, but said ‘the longer you go, the more pressure there is’.

When Ruth asked what it’s like seeing your partner after long periods of time, Mark replied: ‘If you’re in love and in a happy relationship you will be happy to see each other.

‘You have to learn that you’ve been together for a long time and not seen each other in three weeks so it’s exciting at first but then it goes back to being a 10 year relationship.

‘The longer you go, the more pressure there is because the longer it’s been. But I was in LA and had a dinner with Piers Morgan and I told him it was hard. He said: ‘I had this with my wife and we have a 3 weeks rule so don’t let it go past 3 weeks’

When Frankie asked about their current situation Mark said: ‘It’s tough though with Australia, it’s a lot of flying’

A friend of Michelle’s told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: ‘Michelle has always had one big dream, which is appearing in a period drama and ‘Ten Pound Poms’ will let her dip her toe in those past times.’

The project will see Michelle once again team up with writer Danny Brocklehurst, who worked with the star on ‘Ordinary Lies’ – her first TV drama after she departed Coronation Street in 2014 – and Sky comedy Brassic, in which she plays Erin Croft.

Mark also recently landed himself his ‘dream’ role, which he is set to star in alongside his two best friends.

The former TOWIE star, 35, will host the new show A Wright Old Adventure alongside his dad Mark senior and younger brother Josh.

The star is set to explore Britain’s attractions and take on fun activities in the family series, but there was no mention of Michelle being involved.

It was previously reported that Mark quit an upcoming ITV show The Real Games last minute via text message to spend more time with Michelle.

A source told Closer magazine: ‘Working together has been something Michelle and Mark have been talking about for a long time and after agreeing to do The Real Games, Mark realised it could be a big mistake given he’d be cementing his image as a ‘reality star’ rather than detaching himself from that world.

‘That’s something he wants to keep in the past so he can carve out his new career path with Michelle as a power couple.

‘He and Michelle have also spent long chunks of time apart during their marriage, so he also turned it down to spend as much time as possible with her.’

They added: ‘Mark’s made a sacrifice to spend more time with Michelle and to work on their new career, but that decision has backfired if ITV really has blacklisted him.’
