Beauty enthusiasts have been raving about what they deemed to be a ‘secret lip gloss’ hidden at the bottom of Aldi Lacura lipstick – but it’s not what they think. If you are looking for an amazing new lipstick, gloss or tint, Etude House has a great range that will become a staple in your collection.
Australian Aldi shoppers have posted on Facebook boasting about the find and sharing snaps of them taking their lipsticks apart to reveal a ‘lip gloss pot’ at the base of the lipstick.
But Daily Mail Australia can confirm the contents of the pot is potentially toxic and should never been worn, as it’s intended only to show customers what colour the lipstick is.

The Brisbane mum took to Facebook to share how she found an secret lip gloss container at the base of her lipstick after taking the packaging apart
‘My mind is blown!!! Am I the last one to figure out there’s lip gloss at the bottom of the Aldi lipstick?’ the Brisbane mum wrote in a social media post with images of the beauty buy taken apart to reveal a gloss-like substance at the bottom.
Commenters were divided with some amazed at the find. Others were sceptical.
‘I did not know that! I just grabbed mine and opened it up and sure enough. Thank you for sharing!,’ one makeup lover said.
‘Wait what? I’ve bought a few over the last couple of years and never twigged into this,’ another wrote while a third said: ‘*quickly goes to find my lipstick’.
A shopper asked how to access the ‘lip gloss’ to which the original poster replied: ‘I have just about broken the stupid thing trying to get it off…it actually comes off easily if you do it right’.
Many rightly warned against using the liquid at the bottom of the lipstick tube as lip gloss however.
‘My guess is that it’s not meant to be lip gloss and to show the colour of the lipstick only. If it was lip gloss they would have made it easier to 1. open it and 2. To get it out without having to use a lip brush. I would be very careful,’ one woman advised.
Daily Mail Australia can confirm the substance in the base of the Aldi packaging is not suitable for application and merely an indicator of the product’s colour for display purposes only
‘Some brands confirmed yes they are lip gloss and some brands said ‘no it’s just to show the colour and is not safe to use’. Just be careful since it varies,’ said a second.
‘I just looked and found it too, but it’s super sticky, almost like glue!’ a third reported.
‘Omg I’m always showing people “I love this lippy, look how much product is in it” ahahaha,’ a fourth admitted.
