MAFS’ Hugo says Tayla came across as ‘disingenuous’ and wasn’t on the show for the right reasons

Married At First Sight’s Hugo Armstrong has opened up about his relationship with Tayla Winter.

The 32-year-old told Channel Nine’s Today Extra on Thursday, Tayla came across as ‘disingenuous’ and she may have not been on the show for the right reasons.

‘I have zero clue why Tayla did half the things she did during our time on the experiment. It was all quite a lot and quite confusing for me,’ Hugo said.

He explained:’It was largely mixed messaging. If you say someone isn’t your type and you put in zero effort from day one and then you flee back to Tasmania and return to say you wish to give the experiment a go.’

Hugo explained ‘it came across as disingenuous and perhaps she wanted to remain in the spotlight as opposed to find a meaningful connection.’

It comes after Tayla stunned her co-stars when she made a shock entrance at the dinner party on Wednesday.

The busty nurse, 28, dropped a number of bombshells, including she is responsible for Hugo’s lost wedding ring.

Tayla shocked the group when she showed up at the dinner party after having a change of heart about returning to Tasmania.

She took the opportunity to pull Hugo aside, with her shocking him by saying she wanted to give it another go. 

‘You completely shut me out. You really let me down. Just as a person. You let me down,’ she said, taking aim at Hugo.

‘[But] I will give this a go. I believe everyone deserves second chances if their heart is in the right place,’ she added. 

A dumbfounded Hugo was shocked and surprised. 

‘I don’t understand. My wheels are spinning on so much of what she just said. I honestly don’t know how to feel,’ he said. 

Tayla lambasted him for how he treated her during the retreat saying he was probably feeling bad for his actions. 

Hugo, however, was having none of it.

‘I’m really sorry that I let you down. When you said I’m willing to give the relationship a go if you are [I got confused],’ he said.

‘Individually, we are both great people. You are one of the strongest, fiercest people I have ever met,’ he added.

Hugo then admitted the pair were just not right for each other.

‘You are going to be awesome when you find the person you connect with but we both know that isn’t me,’ he said.
